Chapter 94: Chapter 94:Contractually Obligated [3]

Heading to the bullet closest to me, I stepped right in front of its projected line, holding my sword so that it intersected the bullet’s path.

*CRASH*

Like a bird running into a window, the bullet rebounded against my blade and immediately fell to the ground.

Then, I did it again...and again until there were no more left.

*CRASH*

*CRASH*

Until the sound of bullets ricocheting against walls was completely gone, leaving the coliseum in an empty silence.

Throughout this entire sequence, Daisy sat in the exact middle of the arena, tracking my figure with her dark-purple eyes.

Not many people knew, but Daisy didn’t just have one element.

I would say fewer people knew about Daisy’s second element than the identity of Evangel as the current hero.

Seeing me finish up the last bullet, she clasped her hands and stood up, thankfully dropping her revolver to the ground.

Exhausted, I stared up at the sky, noticing it had now changed into a light orange with the sun slowly disappearing.

How long had I been out here...?

Wasn’t class supposed to end at 3:30!?

Seemingly noticing my confusion, Daisy nodded her head and casually stated.

"It’s around 5:30 if you’re wondering."

...I had been dodging and destroying bullets for over three hours now!?

Ignoring my shock, she reached into her pocket, revealing a white handkerchief, and threw it at me in a beautiful arc.

However, just as the handkerchief reached the halfway mark between Daisy and me, it suddenly sped up, catching me off guard.

Before I could react, the handkerchief slowly fell on my face, completely covering it.

And, when I slowly removed it from my face, the right side was colored a crimson-red, contrasting with the snow-white left side.

Just as I finished cleaning my partially bloodied face, a sudden chuckle erupted from the middle of the arena.

"How can YOU, of all people, lose track of time?"

Walking toward the arena’s middle, I angrily muttered back.

"When there’s tens of bullets heading at you from all directions, time actually doesn’t seem that important."

Expecting another trick, I slowed to a walk as I approached Daisy, yet she simply nodded her head and gestured for me to come closer.

Not skipping a beat, I used the last of my remaining mana, instantly creating five identical clones of myself that surrounded Daisy.

After commanding them to run around in a circle to confuse Daisy about which "me" I was, we all stepped forward in unison.

"You really don’t trust me, do you?"

Six voices instantly sounded, harmonizing with each other like some sort of choir.

"No."

Alas, as I got to the center of the circle, standing right next to Daisy, she simply smiled and said.

"Well, that’s it for today. You should head back to your dorm and shower."

After pausing for a moment as I dismissed my clones, she reached into her pocket and continued.

"Oh, don’t forget this."

Taking the bandage out of her hand, I placed it over my right eye, which was burning as if I had gotten champu inside it, and nodded my head.

As I returned my sword into a pen and walked towards the exit, Daisy still remained in the coliseum, prompting me to stop and look over my shoulder.

Usually, the coliseum would be full of mentors and mentees, but since it was the first day and mentors were just getting to know their students’ abilities, it was empty.

Whether or not Daisy realized I was still watching, I did not know, but as I leaned against the wall and observed from the hallway leading out of the arena, she picked up her revolver.

However, as she touched the gun this time, it immediately lost its dull grey color and began sparkling a dark purple.

Electric sparks covered the entire gun, making it as if it were struck by...lightning.

If I touched them again, I’d probably be instantly electrocuted and knocked unconscious. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Remaining perfectly fine, Daisy reloaded the gun before taking a deep breath and aiming them at one of the arena’s walls.

Then, like a turret, she shot one bullet before turning exactly 60 degrees to the left and shooting another...and another.

Within a second, she had completed a circle while standing still and released six bullets, all in different directions.

The bullets moved much faster than earlier, as I couldn’t even keep track of them with just my left eye.

*BANG*

There was only one reason I could see them.

Each of them left a dark-purple smoke trail wherever they flew.

The bullets ricocheted against the wall, instantly heading straight toward Daisy’s figure in the middle.

Then, moving at a speed so fast that she created after-images behind her, she sped forward and ducked, simultaneously reloading her revolver.

*BANG*

*BANG*

*BANG*

In the next few seconds, over 36 bullets were fired, and the coliseum was filled with dark-purple smoke, making it almost impossible to see.

However, one color overpowered the smoke.

A purple so dark that it quite resembled black gathered together to form the shape of a human.

The figure never stopped, for even a moment, sprinting around the purple smoke and leaping off the arena’s walls to avoid the onslaught of ricocheting bullets.

Shaking my head in disappointment, I turned around and left the arena, arriving back at the Imperial dormitory within a few minutes.

My assassin was already that strong...? What was I doing!?

In the common room, there were a few students I didn’t know, who gazed at me when I entered without saying a word before looking away, so I simply went to my room.

However, when I did, an interesting surprise awaited me.

On my clean wooden door, someone had carved the words, "FRAUD" and "ORPHAN."

Unless my door was completely replaced, these words would remain there permanently.

Knocking open the door, I stepped into the shower, enjoying the bliss of the cold water crashing against my sweaty skin.

It was only 5.

The day was far from being over.
