Transmigrated Into The True Heiress-Chapter 73: Hell Is A Lot Hotter
Chapter 73: Hell Is A Lot Hotter
"I was confused as to how she was able to move on so fast and curious as to how and when it all happened, so I asked her to tell me. She told me that she’d met him two months ago at the club where she was working as a part-time waitress, shortly after she found out she was pregnant. At first, they were simply strangers, but one day, he took a drug after being persuaded by his friends, and something went wrong. He became unable to move.
Marianna told me that when she went back to their room to clean up, thinking they’d all left, she found him there. When he saw her, he begged her to help him, promising to pay her. Since she also wanted him, she agreed, and they had sex that night. Feeling indebted, he always gave her money and bought her things from then on, but he didn’t sleep with her again. After her child’s father’s death, she went to him for comfort, and they slept together again. Since then, they’ve been secretly seeing each other.
Marianna said she was so happy everything had worked out, which made me believe she’d planned it and never really wanted the gangster to be her baby’s father. Still, I asked, not wanting to jump to conclusions. She replied, saying she never really meant to be in a relationship with him, that she only wanted his money. Yet now, there was nothing she could do but be with him—besides, her baby needed a father.
I wanted to believe her, but when I saw her triumphant smile, I knew she was lying and had planned this even before her child’s father’s death."
Miranda closed her eyes, breathing in and out. "After that, I didn’t ask her anything more and continued my life, going to work as usual in the morning and coming back in the night. But after a week, I realized I’d only seen Marianna four days earlier, and only a few of her things were still in the apartment. Feeling worried, I called her. She picked up on the third try. I hurriedly asked why she hadn’t come back home and why only a few of her belongings were left in the apartment.
Marianna chuckled and told me she’d moved out, and the things that remained were the ones she didn’t want anymore—I could throw them away. I was shocked, but I grew even more worried about her condition and asked where she was going to live if she had moved out. Did she have money to rent an apartment? I’d forgotten she was seeing a rich man. Marianna simply laughed and told me she was coming to see me.
True to her word, she came that evening, dressed in luxurious outfits and expensive accessories. She handed me a letter, asking if it was good enough. I opened the envelope and found a folded piece of paper inside. I was surprised to see it was a pregnancy test for Marianna, but the date of the pregnancy was a month later than her actual pregnancy date.
Before I could say anything, Marianna explained that money could do anything. Just the right amount had allowed her to get a fake pregnancy test from the hospital. She also told me she was going to pay me back for all the help I’d given her, and after that, we wouldn’t see each other anymore. Then she left. That was the second-to-last time I saw her."
"When was the last time you saw her?" Eira asked, letting go of her hair.
"I-It was after she gave birth and brought the baby to see me. That was the last time." Miranda immediately looked up and shook her head. "T-That’s all I know. I swear!"
Eira nodded. "I know. Thank you for cooperating."
She moved to the man with tattoos. "It’s your turn." She smiled, but the man glared at her.
She crouched down and stared up at him. "Now, are we going to do this the easy way or the very hard way? I’d suggest the former because I’m on edge right now."
"Fuck you!" he spat.
Eira sighed and shook her head. "The hard way it is."
Suddenly, her hands were on the straps of his chair, dragging it forward with an ear-splitting screech against the floor. The man’s defiance faltered momentarily as Eira yanked the chair into the center of the room, positioning him directly under the harsh fluorescent light. She crouched again, her cold gaze locking onto his.
"You’re brave," she murmured. "But bravery only gets you so far when you’re chained to a chair with no way out."
The man sneered, but the flicker of uncertainty in his eyes betrayed him. "You think you scare me? You’re just a spoiled brat playing at being tough."
Eira let out a low laugh, the sound devoid of humor. "Spoiled brat, hmm? You’re not the first to underestimate me." She moved to the long metal table by the wall, where various torture tools were neatly arranged. She picked up a blade that caught the light as she twirled it in her fingers, her movements practiced and deliberate. "But let’s see how long your bravado lasts."
Then she plunged it into the man’s arm and twisted it sharply, eliciting a guttural scream from his throat. Blood seeped out, staining the fabric of his sleeve as Eira leaned closer, her voice calm yet chilling.
"Here’s the thing," she said softly. "I don’t enjoy this. But I need the information you have. So, how much pain are you willing to endure before you tell me what I want to know?"
The man writhed in the chair, his teeth clenched as he tried to suppress another scream. Sweat beaded on his forehead, and his breathing grew labored. He spat at her feet, his defiance still intact.
Eira’s smile was icy. "Fine. I can keep this up all night."
She yanked the blade out, the sound of tearing flesh echoing in the room, and moved back to the table. She picked up a device that looked like a metal rod, returned, and pointed it at the wound.
The man flinched involuntarily, his confidence cracking as she drew the rod along his skin in a slow, deliberate motion.
"Let’s start with something simple," she said, her tone almost conversational. "What was your relationship with Rico and Marianna?"
"Go to hell," he growled through gritted teeth.
Eira tilted her head and smiled wickedly. "I will gladly give you a taste of hell." She tapped on the handle of the rod. Immediately, electric currents coursed through the man’s body, causing him to jerk violently against the restraints. His screams filled the room, echoing off the concrete walls as Eira maintained a steady gaze, unfazed by his agony. She let the device hum for a few seconds longer before pulling it away, allowing him to slump forward, gasping for air.
"Hell is a lot hotter than this," she said coolly, crouching down again to meet his gaze. "But I can keep giving you previews if you’d like."
The man glared at her, his resolve faltering as he struggled to catch his breath. "Why the hell do you want to know about Marianna so badly?" he rasped, his voice hoarse. "You were the one who killed Rico, weren’t you? If you had Rico with you, why didn’t you ask him? After all, he’s the one who knows the most other than Marianna."
Eira’s expression turned amused, and she leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "To your first question, I’m asking because Marianna is my evil stepmother. And to your second question, I only recently found out that my dearest stepmother has a lot of scandalous secrets."
She stood and pressed the rod against his arm again, this time sending a shorter jolt that made him cry out. "Talk," she ordered, her voice sharp. "Or we move on to more creative methods."
The man’s head hung low as his breathing grew ragged. "Alright! Alright!" he finally croaked, his defiance breaking. "I’ll talk."
Eira stepped back, allowing him a moment to recover, but her piercing gaze never wavered. "Good," she said. "Start with Rico. What was his role?"
The man winced, the pain evident in his expression. "Rico... he was the one who planned and arranged everything for Marianna. Marianna’s ex had a high position in the gang, and Rico was always jealous of him. When Marianna started dating him, Rico was always watching them. When they started fighting, it got to a point where Marianna wanted to break up with him, but her boyfriend pleaded for another chance. Reluctantly, Marianna agreed, but they still fought, and she distanced herself further from him. It was then that Rico approached her. He told her he knew she was seeing another man, that she was pregnant, and that she wanted to get rid of her boyfriend. He said he knew a way to make that happen without drawing attention."
