From the looks of things, she would not be seeing Nyx tonight. This female reaper did not seem to be deceptive and the way she talked, it seemed like she had an inkling on the situation between her and him. Oh well, if he wasn’t here then she would go an search for him somewhere else.

Perhaps all pride should be put aside and she should find Esong first. Where one was, it was likely where the other was as well.

Scarlet gave one last look to large winged reaper and decided to go. This was a waste of her time anyway.

"I guess I will be leaving then."

The reaper nodded, as if giving Scarlet her approval for the wise decision she had taken. "Take care of yourself and rest some more. These affairs, leave them to us."

Scarlet raised her brows curiously, unaffected by the smile of the large winged reaper. She definitely knew something if she was talking like that. Was she a friend to Nyx? Or had the deities started sharing news of her pregnancy. Perhaps it was Nyx himself who had shared the news.

The large winged reaper looked down at Severus who was still on the ground and she yelled. "Take care of her thirty one. Your father says that the five are ready and you should pick them up right now."

Scarlet had a feeling that it was about the hounds she had asked for to protect the children. She nodded at Severus and teleported away.

Her interaction with the large winged reaper left the others curious. They had not attached much importance to her so why had Catrina, one of the few natural born female worthy reapers polite to her?

It would not be long for the truth to be known by all but for now, the deities were still keeping it private. It was not just for Scarlet’s sake, it was for the sake of the reapers too. They needed to concentrate and news like Scarlet’s was a distraction.

With her secret still safe, Scarlet returned to her castle to wait for Severus. It was then that she recalled her spiritual animals that she had not brought back.

Using her right hand, she scratched the back of her head and wondered if she should return to the underworld and search for the old deity now. The old deity was probably not happy with her however. He would not let her have her way so easily. It was better to wait for Severus and go with him.

She turned the television on in search of noise but it didn’t calm the discomfort in her heart.

Restless, she decided to do something else, like drop in on Ramslin. Burning something could put her in a better mood. She would not erase him completely, just absorb most of his power and leave him completely weak.

She teleported from the castle and hovered around Ramslin’s house first. He lived on the four hundred ninety ninth floor of a building that had five hundred floors. It was a heavily guarded building in one of the central areas of the capital and it was mostly occupied by celebrities.

Here a large hologram of the celebrity occupying which floor was attached on the side. They were not afraid of obsessive fans or stalkers knowing where their stars lived. Apparently, this kind of openness added value to the building. Scarlet was willing to bet that this particular building cost around sixty billion star coins or more.

The lights were off in Ramslin’s house and it was devoid of energy.

"Hmph." She said. Perhaps he was in the underworld training for the war. "Damn, pregnancy brain." She smacked her forehead lightly and shook her head.

Just to be sure, she decided to teleport to the yellow star, his original home and she didn’t find him there either. His energy was completely untraceable on the Sunstar. Even though he was away training, that was not normal. It would mean that he had not been reaping for a while.

"Aah, just where is everyone hiding lately?" she asked herself.

She needed to find her banshee and ask her for updates on what she had missed. Lanta too, needed to update her on many things. Scarlet thought about the many other creatures she could question, and somehow, her mind moved to Frost. She recalled the moment when he told her to tell Esong about Ramslin. Now that she knew Esong was also Nyx, could Frost have gone to him behind her back and did he do something about Ramslin? She had another reason to find Esong now.

She accessed the underworld forum and sent a text to Frost.

"It’s me, I am back. Come find me, we need to talk ASAP."

She sent the text but then she frowned. Would he understand ASAP? It was used on her old earth, not in the interstellar.

So, she sent another text.

ASAP--[As soon as possible].

"There, that should explain it." she whispered to herself.

Scarlet could feel many sharp eyes watching her every move as she teleported from place to place. Some of the eyes belonged to life angels, others Lythia’s shadows, birds that were obviously harpies and two belonged to grim reapers. The grim reapers were watching her on the command of the old deity.

She looked all around and rolled her eyes, extremely displeased. "Tch, I don’t even have any privacy."

She teleported herself to the apartment of Beord and Lanta. As expected, they were asleep, and their room reeked of sex. This caused her to also frown.

"They are like bunnies, I swear." she muttered.

She woke Lanta up without waking Beord and the two women flew out of the apartment. Scarlet had Lanta follow her all the way out to the grape fields, or wine country as she had named the city.

The smell of ripe grapes was heavy in the air. It was time for the harvest to begin and this brought a smile to Scarlet’s face. It was nice to see that the farmers had not slacked off when she was gone. Some of them were even sleeping in the fields. This was not the kind of dedication one offered just because of a salary, the motivation was personal.

They touched down on Scarlet’s wine country home. It was not a castle but more like a vacation home, mostly built with the best wood in the underworld and high glass from Xeno. There was no absence of flowers, streams and ponds all around. Best of all, it had many barriers to keep out all the supernatural things she wanted to stay out. She planned to reinforce the barrier with her green flame. Anything that tried to invade would end up erased.

For now, she dropped down a few trinkets that Apheitos had given her to keep even deities out and stop them from eavesdropping. As she dropped them in seven corners as he told her to do, her right hand finger was pressed against her lips, telling Lanta to stay quiet.

When she was done, she opened the doors and the two women walked in and sat down.

"Now, we can talk." Scarlet said.

Lanta smiled and crossed her legs. She leaned back in the comfortable huggable chair and said, "Welcome back, sister-in-law."
