Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 678: Is it over or not?
Chapter 678: Is it over or not?
In a feisty mood, Scarlet shoved him away and yelled, "Hey, why did you take me away from there? I still had something to say to that fate. Didn’t you hear her, her greed for our daughter is still existent in her. Our child will never be safe if I don’t put the permanent fear of god in her."
Nyx retreated quickly to escape her anger and Esong was suddenly back in charge and her last statement confused him. How could she put the fear of god in a god?
"Huh!"
Persistently, Scarlet looked at him and emphasized with a lot of strength, "We have to go back and finish this. I meant what I said, I have no plans of fighting any war for the deities. The longer it takes to leave things undefined, the longer we will have to live in hiding and fear. I refuse to live that way, I refuse to let our children live that way. We need to finish this now and end it permanently."
He nodded as she talked, gesturing that he understood all the points that she was making. They were valid but she was burning way too hot, ready to go off like a firecracker. However, the council had just made a decision that favored them. Instead of antagonizing them, it was best for Scarlet to stay away out of their sights for a while.
"I will go back and take care of anything that is left to handle. The children,__, our children need to feed first, don’t they? And those rituals the midwife mentioned, we didn’t get to them. You have frightened the deities enough. I will be the one to finish this so trust me and just wait." He put his hands around her shoulders and looked into her eyes.
She shrugged his hands of and asked. "Why must it be you? With my powers I can get them to listen much faster."
The gods would bully him because that’s what they were, big bullies with a large playground.
He shook his head and looked at her with reluctant eyes. She was too confident, but confidence was not what won wars. Strategy did and he had a strategy that would put all this to bed. "You are new to this Kopuko business. I saw the look in your eyes when it was mentioned, you were just as confused as I was. Before you learn more about it, maybe you shouldn’t flaunt it around."
"I am not flaunting anything." she stated.
"Aren’t you?" he queried.
She looked at him and her eyes which had turned black flashed green. She was unhappy with what he had just said.
Her lips thinned out and she asked him, "Whose opinion is this, Esong or Nyx?"
Esong sighed and he replied, "We are one, Scarlet. I wouldn’t be saying this if I didn’t think it."
"Aah, so you have been involved in the affairs of the gods, reapers and supernatural for a minute and already you think that you are better at it than me." She folded her arms and stepped back from him.
"Ouch!" he answered. Then he said, "As Esong, sure but Nyx has been involved for much longer than both of us. That’s why we are handling this."
"In that case, let him make an appearance and explain a few things to me. We have a lot to discuss, don’t we?" She sat down and pointed to the chair opposite of hers.
"He is not willing to talk, not right now. This is not the right time to talk anyway." Esong turned her down. "Let’s first handle everything, from wrapping this issue up to resettling of the natural born reapers and negotiating with the goddess of fate. There is still much to do that I must complete and then we can talk."
He teleported away rather quickly, leaving her behind once again without waiting to hear her response.
She was flustered and she smiled wryly. Did he simply assume that she would stay put just because he had asked her to do so? Did she look like a dog to him? Why would he negotiate with fate again when she could just kill the deity again?
"The baby is crying." Shadowpaw told her.
She looked around and noticed all the hounds had followed her. They had been standing around this whole time, simply watching her and Esong.
Her instincts as a mother overwhelmed her desire to prove a point that she could handle the gods and she sat down in the nearest rocking chair.
She released all of the children and as soon as the breeze blew past them, two opened their eyes and started crying.
"Okay, okay, your milk machine is here." she said in a soft voice as she picked them up.
She settled the children down and started breastfeeding two while soothing a third with her powers. She hummed softly as the babies fed.
"You need help." Grimm told her.
"What I need more than help is answers to whether the issue of any unwanted claims to my children have been laid to rest. And the war, is it over or not?" She looked at the hounds and decided that rather than have them here, she might as well send a few of them back so that they could keep an eye on the affairs.
"Severus, Zana and Blaze. You three should follow Esong and see what is happening on the dead world."
The three hounds teleported away immediately at her instructions.
After they left, Grimm told her. "It’s over, the council has made a decision. What Tridon said to you is the truth, the word of a god is their bond. They will not be coming after the children. In fact, you can return to the human world now and live your life."
Scarlet would have loved to believe that too, that everything was suddenly all sunshine and flowers but nobody had actually declared peace. There had been no handshaking or declaration of surrender. Until she heard a declaration of surrender, she was undecided on when she planned to returned to the human world.
"It’s too soon to declare victory, with the way the god of life was acting, he is not satisfied with the verdict. How can I trust him not to attempt something? He doesn’t look like the kind to take a loss lightly. We should stay in the underworld for a while until we get a green light from the deities themselves."
Her instincts were not wrong about that deity of life. The mere fact that he knew she had switched out her family for phantoms was proof enough that he did plan to use them to threaten her.
Grimm looked out and he howled. "You have a guest, a deity. Should i turn him away?"
She put one of the babies down because she was dozing and replaced that one with another. Her eyes scanned the outside of the house for the identity of the guest.
She was certain that it was not the god of life because he didn’t have permission to access the underworld. It was one of the few deities that brought a rare smile on her face.
"Apheitos, let him in."
