True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 265: Team
When Cedrick bolted towards Elizabeth as she continuously howled mindlessly, he had to stop midway and fly back. She let out a low snarl, gazing at him while tilting her head from one side to the other.
"Tch." He gritted his teeth in irritation, knowing Elizabeth, although now a mindless monster, had her eyes on him. He was the only living being in this place, and it was obvious he would be her target.
When Elizabeth roared once again, the ground underneath him shook and cracked. He jumped away at the same time she disappeared from her standpoint, letting her follow him into a place she could wreak havoc.
’How troublesome,’ he thought, jumping on top of the castle and hopping from the top surfaces. Elizabeth was hot on his tail.
Cedrick looked down, finding a place where there were werewolves and vampires. But alas, the west wing of the imperial palace was already abandoned with life energy.
Did Elizabeth go to this place knowing this might happen? Cedrick wouldn’t know the exact answer to that, but he was convinced that was the case. Elizabeth’s instincts were sharper than diamonds; she was just like Hugo. There were always reasons for their actions.
Soon, Cedrick felt Elizabeth’s speed pick up and in just seconds, his breath hitched when she was at arm’s length behind him. He stomped his feet, breaking through the roof and falling down along with the debris of the roof.
He didn’t have time to feel anything because as soon as he landed; he sprinted through the empty hallway, skipping his step while keeping his wings closed in. The sound of an echoing growl prickled his ears, forcing him to look back only to see a wolf shake her body.
’Not lucky as I thought,’ he admitted, looking ahead with his sharp eyes. He listened to the sound of her heavy footsteps bouncing at every corner of the silent hallway. When he saw a window and the castle outside, Cedrick clenched his teeth and jumped through the window.
As soon as he did, his wings fluttered open, flying away to get away from her. He didn’t want to waste his time on a dying wolf. Not only it was troublesome, but he would rather let her run amok to her fellow wolves before she completely self-destruct.
He could do other things to help Azazel attain his goal for all of this.
*HOWL*
Just when he thought flying while Elizabeth was on the ground was the best idea, he was proven wrong that in a battle, nothing was permanent. Everything... especially the relief, was temporary.
Cedrick gazed down and saw a few wolves appear, running in the opposite direction as Elizabeth as if they came to take her down. The latter, who immediately shifted her focus on the wolves ahead, ran just as fast without a second hesitation.
Now... Elizabeth wasn’t his concern anymore. It was that person, standing on top of the building ahead.
Daniel.
All the lingering playfulness in the vampire’s eyes slowly faded, replaced by bloodlust. With the sight of Daniel, there was no way he would still have spare time to joke around. Tomas and Elizabeth had a huge difference in power, but it was the same for Daniel.
He wouldn’t be the crown prince if he wasn’t different and special in his own way.
"Now, this is what I am talking about." Cedrick’s smirk grew more sinister as he watched Daniel’s figure stretch from the roof. "Hah... he wasn’t thinking of jumping from there to reach me, right?"
Just as those words slipped past his lips, his eyes dilated because the next second, Daniel leaped. It wasn’t just a normal hop. It was a couple of meters distance, closing their gap faster than Cedrick originally calculated.
DEATH.
This time, Cedrick was certain this was the face of death and he was coming at him.

Meanwhile...
’... I failed.’
Deimos had given his all, his best, his mightiest, with his last clash with Azazel. But even if that was the case, even the strongest being wouldn’t win against an immortal being who seemed he didn’t have any weakness.
Azazel was already dismembered multiples time already, but he simply grew his limbs back. Even when his skull was pounded into smithereens, he still emerges and came back stronger. A bitter pang struck Deimos’ heart, knowing not only he, but also, his children would all die.
"Pathetic!"
BOogsh!
Deimos blinked, trying to process what had just happened. His wide eyes gazed at the empty space in front of him. Azazel was gone, and the emperor twisted his neck into the thick fog from a distance.
"Father!" he snapped back when his son’s voice reached his ear. His eyes veered to the right side of where Azazel crashed to, seeing his youngest son, Tito, ran towards him.
"Father, are you alright?" asked Tito with his classic angry and full voice while Deimos looked up at his youngest humongous figure.
"Child, what are you --"
Tito let out a low snarl, catching his father’s severed leg. When he raised his gaze to the emperor, his eyes glinted in red. The ever calm and gentle front slowly disappeared as his mouth opened.
"Child, what are you doing here?" Deimos inquired, holding Tito’s brawny arm. "I already told you that --"
"Aiya!"
Deimos’ sentence was cut short when he suddenly heard Hugo’s voice from where Tito came from. He gazed at the latter, and held his breath, seeing that Hugo strutted his way, stretching his shoulder with his hand over it.
"Father, how can you say that to my adorable little brother instead of thanks?" Hugo humored, causing the emperor to frown.
"Hugo, what are you..." Once again, Deimos trailed off, not because someone interrupted him, but because he noticed the aura of his son.
When Hugo stopped in front of him, he patted Tito’s back lightly.
"Father, thank you for coming for me when I needed a backup." Hugo expressed sincerely, holding his father’s gaze with his hand still on Tito’s back. "Just like what you had done for me, Tito came because he cares for you."
"Isn’t that how we Tempest do it?" he continued with a reassuring grin. "We do our best. If doing our best is not enough, then another one will take charge and do theirs. Teamwork." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Hugo held his fist and offered it to his father. "Tag me in, Father."
Deimos’s heart clenched, darting his eyes between his son. In the end, he could only sigh and laughed.
"Don’t die. I will still punish you for going against my orders." He warned before bumping his fist against Hugo’s fist, letting his son protect him after protecting them all this time.
