True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 266: Fathers and sons
"Don’t die. I will still punish you for going against my orders."
Hugo chuckled dryly as he glanced at Tito with a knowing look. He was relieved that Deimos didn’t stubbornly push them away, but every time he catch the emperor’s severed leg, he couldn’t deny the building fury within.
"Tito, help Father tend to his injury." He slapped his brother’s back mildly, jerking his chin in Deimos’ direction. Tito looked back at him, worried, but he offered him a reassuring smile.
"I won’t leave Toby just yet. I hadn’t become as great of a father like him." Casting Deimos a knowing look. "Don’t look back and regroup with everyone."
"What about Daniel and the rest?" asked Deimos solemnly, looking around only to see no one. The only people in here were his two sons, and that Azazel rising from the grave once again.
Although Tito’s punch wasn’t enough to kill that monster, it bid them time.
"Daniel and I agreed to split on our way here. Tomas..." Hugo huffed as he peeled his eyes away from Deimos, while the latter’s eyes softened with bitterness.
"We’ll talk about this later." Tito broke the brief silence, descending on them as he held Deimos’ arm across his massive shoulder. He held the emperor’s waist, casting Hugo one last look.
"Don’t let Toby worry, big brother."
"Bide me some time and entertain him for a bit," Hugo smirked playfully before peeling his eyes away from them, setting them to where Tito sent Azazel flying. "I’m certain he’s already worried about his mother, too. My son... I feel sorry for him."
Tito and Deimos noticed the steam emanating from Hugo’s back as if it was a silent roar. They looked at each other briefly before nodding. With Tito’s strength, he leaped away while lifting his father’s waist, the latter’s arm across Tito’s shoulder.
Deimos was beaten up, so having the humongous Tito carry him felt reassuring. In terms of strength, Tito excelled among his children. Although he had a very soft heart compared to his tough shell.
Just as the two leaped away and let Hugo take charge, Tito’s eyes narrowed sharply as a dark figure suddenly appeared in front of him. However, instead of stopping, he continued. Even when Azazel had wings that were akin to what demons had in the books, speeding towards them, Tito didn’t even slow down. If anything, he picked up his pace and Deimos didn’t even stop him.
Deimos already tagged Hugo in and his son accepted it. That means... Azazel’s enemy wasn’t them anymore.
"Heard about tag?" Hugo suddenly appeared beside Azazel, whose head was still half complete with the other half having red mist forming. The latter’s one eye moved to its side, only to see Hugo smirk.
"That means when your tag someone in, they’re your new enemy while the other take time to rest. In other words, I am your enemy, and taking your eyes off of me even for a second is a mistake," he explained casually as if the speed and time weren’t fast enough for anyone to catch their figure.
All Azazel could do before meeting Tito and Deimos in the middle was watch Hugo grin evilly. In a blink of an eye, Hugo’s claws plunged into the side of his neck, hindering his head from forming once again.
"Thanks!" Tito yelled as he jumped, using Azazel’s back as a stepping stone, and then continued to head in the same direction.
THUD!
Everything happened so fast and slow at the same time. Yet, Tito didn’t falter for a second, as he didn’t look back, as if nothing happened. His father could not help but glance at his side before breathing out with a subtle smile.
"You trust your brother that much?" asked Deimos, even though he already knew Tito looked up at Hugo ever since they were children. It was rare, he thought, that someone completely put their faith in someone, even though death was an inch away.
Tito glanced at his father and smiled, gazing ahead once again. "He is our Alpha and our Alpha never turns his back on us." — there was a slight difference between being brothers and being Hugo’s people.
Although Hugo would die for his sibling and his pack, Tito believed in the person he vowed to follow.
"You’ve grown, boy." Deimos chuckled weakly, proud that his youngest son was just as astonishing as always. "Let’s find you a mate once this is all over."
This time, Tito frowned, making his father laugh heartily, but they continued to speed away.

Meanwhile, in the main gate of the palace...
Silence filled the entire vicinity of the borders, not because a horde of enemies was rushing to them. The cause of their silence was for a different reason.
Everyone’s eyes were at the gates, watching the ramp move up after the evacuee fled the imperial palace. Apparently, even though they already let out most of the servants and those who were unable to fight, there were still those who were left behind and managed to flee at this gate.
However, as they pulled down the ramp, it got stuck. In other words, it was a dilemma that was needed to resolve immediately. The problem was that they lacked people and materials for repairs. It wasn’t also the time for that.
So they all broke down the ramp and protect the open gates so no vampire could pass through it. That was when Toby, Hugo’s son, offered his help.
Now... all they could do was watch the little boy pull the chains attached to the ramp with blank eyes.
That little boy carried it all on his own and even though some men helped, Toby’s strength alone was enough. Although they knew he wasn’t Hugo’s biological son—no matter how they resembled each other — they couldn’t help but wonder if Toby was actually Tito’s son.
Their eyes fell on him when Toby turned around, dusting his hands with an adorable smile.
"Is that good now?" came out an adorable voice, raising his brows while darting his eyes at the stunned faces looking back at him.
Toby pressed his lips into a thin line. "Uhm... hello?"
