Void Cultivation-Chapter 197- Blood Devouring Fiendish Bird
Slowly, second after second dragged by as the old man fled for his life. Each breath tore painfully from his chest, his lungs burning as if they might burst at any moment. Fear twisted his expression into something ugly, while disbelief clung stubbornly in his eyes, refusing to fade.
He ran with everything he had... no, more than everything he had. He burned through his remaining vitality without hesitation, pushing his body past what it should have been capable of. Yet no matter how desperately he ran, he couldn’t shake Grey.
Grey had already stepped into the Foundation Establishment Realm. More than that, he had become the Scion of the Wind Monarch and inherited a fragment of that terrifying legacy. Speed, for him, was no longer just movement, it was authority.
At this point, Grey’s movements were so fast that ordinary eyes could barely perceive him. Even cultivators in the Foundation Establishment Realm would struggle to track his figure clearly, much less catch up to him. Perhaps only those at the upper levels of the realm could hope to rival him in speed.
Yet Grey did not rush.
He did not close the distance.
Instead, he deliberately kept a small but constant gap between himself and the fleeing old man, as though herding prey rather than chasing it.
The old man’s cultivation arts... they were abnormal. Twisted. Worse than that, they were unpredictable.
Grey remembered the grotesque totem, the black blood, the sudden reversal of vitality. Even now, the image lingered in his mind like a thorn lodged deep beneath the skin. He had already entered the Foundation Establishment Realm and had even manifested his first ball of Spirit Fire, yet he did not dare to underestimate this man.
Someone like this always had one last card.
One last desperate trick.
And Grey refused to give him the chance to use it.
So, in silence, he continued the pursuit, moving like an unseen gale at the old man’s back. His expression never changed, calm, cold, detached, but the glint in his eyes remained sharp and unwavering, like a blade that had already decided where it would fall.
Before long, the old man had left Green City. Fierce winds gales as sharp as sand tore through the air and at the old man. He let out a surprised cry before charging into the Whistling fields without hesitation.
He suddenly brought out a red pill and swallowed it. Immediately, his body seemed to have become energized by the pill, and his blood and Qi surged to all parts of his body at once.
His skin became bloated and bulged, while his eyes turned bloodshot due to the blood vessels that were being expanded to their limits. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
His bones also emitted popping sounds, and his skin tore into cracks which spilled out blood. All this happened in a very short amount of time that Grey couldn’t help but reveal a frown. His speeding figure came to a stop several meters away from the old man. Roxanne also stopped by his side. She only glanced at the old man with an uninterested expression on her face.
To her, anyone except Grey who was below her in power, did not even deserve to be looked at by her.
But the shocking thing was after the scene happened, the old man suddenly vomited a large amount blood that turned into locusts that drilled back into his body. His skin completely tore as the old man took off into the Whistling fields.
His speed erupted at once and he crossed several hundred feet in an instant. In fact, his speed was so fast that no one in the Qi Accumulation realm would be able to rival him without the use of flight talismans, or magic artifacts.
In fact, the old man’s speed could be compared to a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator who had just broken through.
After crossing over four hundred feet, the old man also brought out a talisman that was as thin as paper and hurridly stuck it on his body.
Immediately he did that, his body Immediately rose into the air. No trace of foreigness or surprise could be seen on his face as if he as already used to it. His speed also seemed to have increased by at least four folds and he was able to cross seven hundred feet in the blink of an eye. When two breaths of time went by, he had crossed over three thousand five hundred feet rapidly.
Seeing this, Grey’s pupils widened as he immediately gave chase. The speed at which the old man suddenly erupted was enough to make his heart beat rapidly.
Even he as a Foundation Establishment realm cultivator who had opened twenty-five nodes and had formed his Spirit Fire would find it quite difficult to cross this distance unless he used the Partial Inheritance of the Wind Monarch.
Only when he did that... could he surpass the old man in terms of speed. But Grey didn’t use his Special Brilliance form just yet. After fighting with the projection of the middle-aged man, Grey’s spirit perforations were almost completely dry and lacking Spirit power.
If he did not have some basic spells which needed Spirit energy to be casted, Grey would mot have any techniques and arts to use against the old man.
’Even though I have opened my Twenty-fifth node and turned it into my Spirit perforation, I still can’t use my Special Brilliance form carelessly. The amount of time that I can I stay in that form... is very limited. It’s best to use it only at critical conditions.’ Grey said decisively in his heart.
When he first activated his Special Brilliance form, he had noticed his rise in power and was also stunned as well. The strength of his raw power and techniques also rose by a few levels.
And when he was in that state, Grey felt like he could suppress everyone in the Foundation Establishment Realm who had not yet opened up to twenty-five nodes. That feeling almost made Grey want to stay in his Special Brilliance form forever.
But he knew that once he had passed the time limit and he still tried to push further, then his spirit perforations would be blocked, they would then wither away. That spirit perforation would also become useless and lifeless. It could remain in that state forever... unless he found some magic treasure that could heal it.
