Chapter 89: Elf Queen Thalia

For a whole week, Atlas kept himself in shape and continued to train his aura without eating except to do his toilet work.

During this process, he was able to experience an astonishing 4% increase in aura energy. Obviously, he was more skilful with aura than magic, and this was a very pleasing situation. Perhaps in just six months he would be able to increase the level of his aura to three.

It was possible that he would be able to achieve this even before he created the fifth magic ring.

After taking a shower to clean himself and finally eating one of the sandwiches he had taken out of his inventory, he left his room and then met River standing right outside his room.

It was midday, the sun was high in the sky and today, despite the cold of the north, the weather was clear, cloudless and showing the sun in full.

The smile and glimmer of hope on River’s face surely told Atlas that the time had come. He was already aware that a week had passed.

"Good afternoon, Atlas," River said suddenly.

"Good afternoon," Atlas replied with a smile, and then added, "I think it’s time for us to go, is it?"

River nodded at Atlas and began to drag him after her. The young girl was now travelling with Atlas towards the north wing where the professors were staying.

It was then that Atlas realised that they had to pass through Professor Dumgrith’s room to meet the elf queen.

Both Atlas and River had managed to realise at once that the members of the student committee were coming up behind them. Still, the thing to do now was not to pay attention to them.

The two arrived at Dumgrith’s room after a short time. Dumgrith, who was waiting for them in front of his room, patted both Atlas and River’s head with a big smile.

After that, he opened the passage in his room, then led the duo through the passage and waited.

The place where Atlas and River were was right in front of the perfect palace itself, built directly at the base of the world tree, where the Elven Royal Family was staying.

"The World Palace..." Atlas muttered to himself. He was standing in front of one of the most perfect places he had ever seen in his entire life, a place he had only been able to enter twice in his previous life. freёweɓnovel.com

"Yes." River muttered and then added, "Home."

Atlas smiled and said, "Who knows when the last time a human set foot here was. I’m honoured."

As soon as he uttered these words, the doors of the palace opened. The elven knights and servants who came out from behind the doors bowed respectfully to River and Atlas.

"You’re a princess, so it’s understandable, but I’m not very important right now, what’s going on?" Atlas asked in a low voice. Of course Atlas was Cordelia’s pupil and that made him important enough, and on top of that he was the duke of the greatest empire in the world, but the person he was about to meet was in his eyes superior to all those ranks.

The Elven Queen Thalia herself was one of the few people Atlas respected the most in his entire life.

"Come on, Atlas, stop joking," River muttered, and with that she started walking. Atlas followed her and the two of them walked for almost ten minutes and climbed stairs on top of that.

Atlas was filled with an incredible feeling of being so close to the world tree again.

After a very, very short time, the two, who had reached the throne hall, entered with the opening of the doors of the hall.

As soon as Atlas entered, he was greeted by a noble assembly of over two hundred people. He saw the Elven Queen Thalia sitting on the throne and noticed the elven princesses and princes.

After River bowed to her mother, she joined her sisters and brothers and Atlas stood in the centre of the throne hall.

Each people had a different form of greeting. Humans would kneel, dwarves would remove their iron helmets and place them on the ground, indicating that they preferred to be unprotected in front of their king or emperor, pixies, male or female, would be made to wear a skirt and bow for some reason.

As for the elves, one hand, usually the left, was placed behind the back, and if the left hand was behind the right foot, the right foot was placed behind the other foot, and a little bow was made to the queen or king.

Atlas did exactly that without skipping a step and then waited for the Elf Queen’s command to ’rise’.

After almost fifteen seconds, Atlas was receiving approving looks from the elven nobles around him. It was rare for humans to respect elves enough to learn the elven greeting.

"You may rise, enough," a voice suddenly said in Atlas’ ear.

Atlas finished his greeting when he heard those words and then looked directly at Elf Queen Thalia and said, "I greet you, Your Majesty, as Atlas Shorekeeper, First Duke of the Fourth Ducal House of Epsilon Empire. Please forgive the rudeness of my sudden arrival."

With these words of Atlas, Thalia turned to her daughter River and sent an approving look to her daughter. Then the great Elf Queen looked at Atlas and began to speak:

"Atlas Shorekeeper. You saved my daughter’s life. You freed her from her suffering. Not only that, but you managed to reduce the racism against elves in the academy to a level where you almost destroyed it. Today, on behalf of my entire family, I thank you and vow to fulfil any request you may make of me."

When Thalia uttered these words, the eyes of all the elven nobles around them widened. It was a rare thing for someone as strict as Elf Queen Thalia to thank someone, and it was even more astonishing when that person was a human.

The fact that she was granting this person a wish made the whole thing even more ridiculous.

None of them could understand what Thalia was thinking.
