Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 82: Scheming to Prevent Their Mountain Climb
"I asked, Director Lowell said you just need to submit your ideas and preliminary drafts to her before next Wednesday."
Assistant Fletcher placed the last two files in front of the two designers behind him, then turned to Mingyue and said, "So, you don’t have to work overtime today."
"That’s great news."
As they spoke, another designer came over: "Tomorrow’s Friday, Assistant Fletcher, has Director Lowell seen the drafts I submitted? I’ve made plans with friends to go out this weekend, and I’m a bit worried Director Lowell will work overtime reviewing drafts and drag me into it too."
"Don’t worry about that," Assistant Fletcher took a sip of coffee handed to him by a colleague and smiled at her, "Director Lowell has plans to go hiking with friends this weekend, she won’t have you working overtime."
"Director Lowell is going hiking?" Another designer joined in, "Are you going with her or is she going with President Norris?"
"You guys, why are you always so gossipy?"
Recently, after two consecutive S-level projects were forced to terminate, the headquarters couldn’t sit still anymore and sent someone over to the branch specifically, saying they wanted to investigate Summer Lowell.
But under the steadfast protection of Vice President Noah, the people from headquarters couldn’t do anything to Summer Lowell.
At the same time, with headquarters’ assistance, Noah managed to ferret out those who had been bribed and were spreading rumors within just a week.
Because of Noah’s series of protective actions towards Summer, their relationship took on an ambiguous note.
So, as soon as the designer finished her sentence, a wave of suggestive laughter filled the room.
Assistant Fletcher certainly knew what they were laughing about.
Having been told countless times by Summer, she could only suppress the urge to curse and, maintaining a normal demeanor, smiled and said to the person speaking, "Neither, it’s an old friend of the Director’s, one she’s known for many years."
Linda, who had been silently listening with her head down, looked up and said, "An old friend of Director Lowell? Didn’t she grow up abroad? She hasn’t been here for even a year; how could she have old friends here?"
"Director Lowell could return to the country, so her old friend can naturally return too," Assistant Fletcher retorted glibly, "Almost forgot, I have other tasks to deal with, you guys continue chatting, I’m off."
When her figure disappeared around the corner, the designers who hadn’t gossiped enough gathered again: "Who do you think Director Lowell is actually going hiking with this weekend? I bet it’s President Norris again, that so-called old friend is just a decoy she threw out!"
"I bet it’s President Norris, too. I heard that headquarters is planning to introduce a new rule prohibiting office romances, so Assistant Fletcher kept emphasizing ’old friend’ because she’s afraid headquarters will clamp down on Director Lowell."
After speaking, everybody present nodded meaningfully.
Meanwhile, Linda used the excuse of going to the restroom to stealthily slip away to the rooftop.
...
Assistant Collins hung up the phone and walked over to the desk, looking at Maxim Sinclair who was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed. "President Sinclair, Stellart just called, saying Miss Lowell plans to go hiking with an old friend this weekend. According to her assistant, it’s an old friend of many years who recently returned to the country. She suspects this ’old friend’ might be President Norris from Stellart, and she also suspects... Miss Lowell might be having an office romance with President Norris."
Maxim Sinclair opened his eyes, a cold gaze sweeping over Assistant Collins’ face: "An old friend of many years who recently returned to the country, who do you think this person is?"
Assistant Collins thought for a moment and said, "Based on that description alone, it sounds a bit like Justin Huxley."
"No ’sounds like,’ it definitely is him!" Maxim Sinclair chuckled coldly, "Looks like Summer is moving on from the shadow of missing those two S-level projects; she’s already out searching for a ’second spring’ so quickly!"
"Maybe Justin Huxley invited Miss Lowell. After all, as you said, she owes him a favor, so she couldn’t easily refuse." Assistant Collins racked his brains trying to defend Summer.
"According to you, Summer is going against her will?"
"Well..."
Maxim Sinclair hooked his long legs around the crossbar under his desk, using the leverage to pull his chair closer to the desk edge, "Justin Huxley wants to get all cozy with her and go hiking right under my nose, how naive!"
Having guessed what he’d think, Assistant Collins put on a look of difficulty, paused for half a minute, and then said, "Miss Lowell is career-focused, why not arrange an event favorable for her career this weekend to disrupt her hiking plans?"
"You’re getting more and more on point."
Maxim Sinclair picked up a pen and scribbled a name on paper, then pushed it toward Assistant Collins, "Get in touch with her, ask her to arrange an event this weekend. Then send Stellart an invitation. Hasn’t Noah always wanted to break into her social circle? I’ll give him the chance!"
Assistant Collins glanced at the name on the paper, a mix of complex thoughts running through his mind, "Alright, I’ll get right on it."

As the workday was nearing its end, Summer Lowell walked into Noah’s office with design sketches in her arms: "President Norris, the preliminary draft of your design is ready."
Noah was just hanging up the phone by the floor-to-ceiling window, seeing Summer arrive. He immediately smiled and waved her over: "You’re just in time, I have some good news for you."
He hadn’t been this happy in a long time, so Summer’s face naturally lit up with a smile as well: "What good news? President Norris, I haven’t seen you this happy in ages."
Noah cheerfully placed his phone down: "Do you remember Ms. Venus, whom I mentioned bringing you around to meet when you first came to Stellarion?"
"Of course I remember," Summer nodded, "I had a deep impression of her; she’s the big shot whom Stellart isn’t even qualified to meet yet."
"Yes, she was the big shot we weren’t qualified to meet back then," Noah gently struck his left palm with his right fist, "But now it’s different, Ms. Venus is hosting a two-day party at her villa in the countryside this weekend, and more importantly, she sent us an invitation to Stellart."
Summer raised her eyebrows in surprise: "Sent you an invitation? That’s indeed great news, President Norris, this signifies Ms. Venus is recognizing your abilities."
"No," Noah slowly shook his head, "I just asked, the reason she sent Stellart an invitation is because she’s interested in you personally, and I’m just riding on your coattails."
"Interested in me?" Summer pointed at herself incredulously, "President Norris, are you sure you heard right? How would the illustrious Ms. Venus know about someone as average as me?"
"That, I don’t know," Noah shrugged, and then shrugged it off casually, "But that doesn’t matter, Summer, this is a golden opportunity for you!"
