Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain-Chapter 456 : The fight starts -3
Aelthar's spear whistled in air as it passed through Rio's throat, but instead of warm blood splattering over, what came out upon impact was just fog.
Rio's figures disappeared in air, as if what the god hit just now was but an illusion, an afterimage.
A sense of danger caused the god to look up, from where he noticed two daggers, one red and one silvery, coming straight for his skull. But due to him looking up, were now just about to stab his eyes.
Aelthar spun his spear, sending a wave of fog to distract Rio, while backing away. But suddenly found his shadow being locked in place, making him unable to move.
'Got you, bitch.' Rio thought while tapping his shoes together, generating a burst from their soles, which propelled him further. His speed faster than a shooting star.
Rio was just about to blind the god when suddenly he felt something pull him behind, he watched a swirl of fog wrapped around his waist, slowing his descent.
'Tsk, lucky bastard.' Rio said as he clicked his tongue, before grunting in pain as the backhand of spear landed on the side of his stomach.
Breaking two of his ribs upon impact and sending him flying.
While he was midway, the god suddenly appeared in front of him and punched with all his strength towards his skull, hoping to end this battle and not consume his soul energy further.
But before the full strength blow from the god could land on Rio, a necklace around Rio's neck shone in light, and instantly a mirror appeared between him and the fist of god.
The huge blast of energy sent Rio's body skidding backwards a dozen of meters, yet instead of pain, a smile remained on his face as he watched Aelthar spew blood from the corner of his mouth.
The golden ichor dropped to the ground, burning the floor, and Rio couldn't help but feel proud at the sight.
"Quite a punch." Rio said, downing another potion, before shooting straight at Aelthar, giving the god no time to breath.
He waved his hand, pulling a deck of cards from his storage ring and splattered them all across the temple when he was close to the god.
Aelthar raised his spear to blast the cards coming his way, when Rio appeared in front of him, making use of his momentary distraction. The short daggers in his hands disappeared and got replaced with a sharp red spear in his hands.
But Aelthar saw through his tricks and easily resolved his sneak attack.
He glanced at the spear in Rio's hands, one whose aura reeked of bloodthirst, a proof of the countless lives the weapon must have reaped. His eyes lingered on the runes and letters carved on it's edges, which gave the artifact some extra special effects.
The spear had the effect of making it's wielder go berserk, heightening his battle efficiency and suppressing his humane senses. It also had a few lines for constant bleeding, halting healing, and other minor effects increasing sharpness and durability _ but Aelthar paid them no heed.
"You dare use a spear in front of me? Your arrogance really knows no bounds." Aelthar spoke in displeasure as their weapons collided in the air.
Though the spear in Aelthar's hands was nothing special. It was simply made of stone by his believers along with the statue, a mere replica of the divine weapon he held in his prime, but due to the god's experience in handling it, this simple regular stone could contend with a magical artifact and still force it back.
Aelthar this time showed no mercy as he easily dodged and parried all of Rio's attacks, while constantly pushing him to a corner and beating him senseless.
Though due to the weird barrier protecting Rio's body, the stone spear couldn't pierce his skin, but every time a hit landed, it set off a shock wave which broke his bones.
In just a few dozen seconds, Rio's skin under his clothes was dyed red and purple from pain, with his hands shaking and starting to swell. - Yet like a madman with an off switch for his brain, he still smiled and kept fighting.
Aelthar could see that the mortal's speed hadn't increased, nor did the power behind his attack, but his reaction to the spear's movements in his hands was improving at an alarming rate.
The attacks which could previously land on him or push him back in corner, forcing him to rely on his tricks and defensive barrier to survive, were now easily getting blocked or parried. - forcing him to spend even more effort and attention in their duel.
A thought that he was being used as a training dummy, couldn't help but come into the god's mind, and the fact, that the longer their fight dragged on the more attention he started to impart on him, started to make him uncomfortable.
Aelthar clicked his tongue in annoyance and then
….
Thud
..
Rio, who was madly competing with the god in close combat, was unable to see anything. - before he even heard the sound of Aelthar's new speed, the pain hit his brain like a hammer.
Aelthar's spear smashed into his ribs before he could even react. And his world spun in circles as he was hurled backward.
He twisted in midair, his shoes blasting for more speed, while his spear dragged along the floor in struggles to steady himself.
But it was still too late.
The moment his feet touched the ground—The god was already there.
His attacks were relentless. The spear in his arms never stopped moving. Sweeping arcs. Precision thrusts. Bone-crushing jabs. Each attack flowed into the next with an effortless grace—like a river forcing its way through stone.
Rio was that stone.
And he was cracking.
CLANG.
His spear barely deflected the next strike, but the force behind it sent him skidding. The tip of the stone spear chased him, slicing through the air, always a fraction away from taking a limb, an eye, his throat.
He switched to another technique, his movements mimicking that of the animals.
But even that was useless as Aelthar easily predicted his moves and blocked his path.
Rio sidestepped, lunging in to close the distance— Only for Aelthar to flick his wrist, using the spear's length to suddenly hook around Rio's ankle.
'Fuck' Rio cursed as he felt himself being yanked off balance.
And in that moment—Aelthar struck downward.
The spear's blunt end smashed into Rio's stomach, causing ripples on the barrier.
Rio's body folded in half, spit and blood flying from his lips as he coughed wildly. He was sent crashing into the stone ruins, his bones rattling from the force.
Before he could recover—the damned stone spear came again.
A brutal downward strike. The tip whistled through the air, aiming straight for the same spot.
Knowing the risks, Rio rolled sideways, only to see the spear move like a serpent in the air and follow his head.
Dhummm
Another thunderous impact rang in the temple, drowning the sound his broken skull made.
Aelthar was just about to charge his spear again and finish the fight, when Rio suddenly shook his head and dropped his spear.
"Wait, wait wait, ….(Phew phew phew) I'm… I'm…" He raised both his arms and started speaking but maybe due to the exhaustion from their battle, or the impact of all the pain which hit his head when the spear was let go, he couldn't help but breathe heavily from his mouth, unable to even form words or finish his sentence properly.
"Want to beg for mercy, _ it's too late." Aelthar spoke haughtily and raised his spear to strike with all his strength.
But just then, he noticed a smirk on Rio's face, as he pointed the god to look at the ground.
Aelthar stared at the floor and found he was standing in the same place where their spear battle started. All around him in a circle were those plain cards which he previously thought of as just a distraction trick, lighting up one by one, releasing wisps of an unusual energy.
"..ready." Rio finally finished his sentence and immediately merged with his shadow, completely disappearing in the darkness in front of Aelthar's eyes.
Aelthar sensed something off and immediately turned around, but just as his feet left the ground, the plain card below his feet lit up in red and blasted his fog away.
As if someone lit up a fuse, soon one after another all the cards started lighting up, and what followed were countless blasts of nether which wrapped the whole temple in a chaotic mana, destroying Aelthar, his statue, and his story painted across the walls.

"From where I am there's a saying which says, a man has two deaths. - One is when his physical body dies, and the other, when everyone forgets him."
"No one knew you were alive, And now no one will ever know your story. In a way, I already killed you." Rio said, mocking the god who got buried in the same tomb twice, while floating above this 'pyramid'..

Author note - is it over?
Was that it?
Is killing a god that easy?
Of fucking course not.
Aelthar's still standing baby. And now he's pissed. Pissed beyond measure pissed.
…
Ps some of you may think he's a god and he's still fighting like this with a kid, for that I'd just say "What a stupid question?"
Now before u say it, I know ur response is like 'Devil, how dare u curse us. We r not stupid, you are.'
So before u go all super saiyan on me, let me tell u why you're stupid.
First of all, Aelthar's dead. What's here now is just a tiny piece of his soul which had been lingering around the temple for the past thousand years with zero faith power to recharge itself, and is solely holding on because of his obsession.
Second, whatever strength he had, most of it was further suppressed by Loki and their formation.
Third, world will directly dictates that Gods cannot harm the mortals. Yes, that rule still applies even if it's a dead god. So the stronger and wilder Aelthar acts, the more severe punishment his soul would receive.
Fourth, he himself is holding back. Remember, his final goal isn't to kill Rio. It is to wait for his successor. To do that, he needs to conserve his strength, and not spend all his soul energy decimating a mortal.
And fifth, and most important, THIS IS MY BOOK AND THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO WRITE. so eff u and ur smart suggestions.
…
Cough cough
I don't know what came over me, that wasn't me.
Okay guys.
Now the real news is, their fight starts seriously without any breaks and restraints from the next chapter.
Aelthar is a kind god, who's merciful and righteous. To get him where I want him to be, I needed him angry, I needed him pissed. - so u can think of everything that happened till now, as a process leading up to that point.
