Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 707: The Red Chamber
"You can rest first. Arielle, take your husband to visit the library. There is a comfortable place to talk there. I will catch up in a bit after talking to my guest about the addition of people in this residence."
Arielle nodded. Perhaps Princess Bertha wanted to tell Princess Zohra that Ronan had arrived at her residence. Arielle and Ronan split up with Aimee, Irene, and Kael. The three of them would rest in Princess Irene’s room while Arielle and Ronan headed to the library to talk with Princess Bertha.
It seemed they would talk about last night’s matters in more detail.
Arielle placed her hand around her husband’s arm who had put his mask back on because he didn’t want anyone else, the servants, or guards in Princess Bertha’s residence to see him.
"How was your sleep last night? Did you rest well?" asked Ronan while smoothing his wife’s hair even though it was already neat.
"I thought you would ask about my conversation with Grandma Bertha first," Arielle replied, making Ronan chuckle.
"I planned to ask about that too, but you are more important. Your comfort is my priority."
"You’re just wondering whether I sleep comfortably without you or not, right?" asked Arielle and Ronan nodded quickly.
"Bingo! Absolutely correct! I’m just worried that you will feel cold because you always hug me every night, looking for warmth."
Arielle halted in her place and looked at her husband with a confused look. "Me? Isn’t that you? Don’t you always complain about how cold the room is even though I’ve put a thick blanket on you if I’m not in your arms?"
Ronan tilted his face, pretending to be in thought.
"Hmm... is that so? I’m not sure. I think you’ve been the spoiled one in our relationship."
"Huh? Me? Ronan, are you sure you don’t hit your head somewhere?"
Ronan almost laughed. Luckily, he was now wearing a mask, so Arielle couldn’t see his wide smile. Seeing the girl crease her brows quite entertained him.
Ronan lifted his mask slightly then kissed his wife’s lips, which were pouting adorably.
"Good thing we’re outside. If we’re in a room, I’ll lock you up all day, especially after my unfulfilled desire last night."
Arielle narrowed her eyes in annoyance. "You really are a pervert."
"Is it wrong doing it with my own wife?"
Really, Ronan always had an answer for everything Arielle complained about, forcing her to give up because she didn’t know what to answer. Seeing his wife who was rubbing her face in annoyance, Ronan laughed with satisfaction.
"Heheh. Do you admit your loss?" he asked mischievously.
They didn’t know since when their small talk became a competition. Arielle just looked away and released her hands from her husband’s arms, making Ronan fall silent. Was the girl upset? Or mad? Had he teased his wife too much? Ronan caught up with Arielle’s quick steps.
"Have I gone too far? Are you mad? I apologize. I didn’t mean to upset you. Arielle ... say something," said Ronan in panic because he was worried that Arielle would just ignore him after this. It would be a nightmare for him.
"Arielle..." Ronan’s whining made Arielle stop her steps once again.
"Ronan, don’t whine like that. What if someone sees and hears you? You are a king. You can’t whine like that."
"But, tell me if you are angry or not, so I will apologize. No-no, whether you are angry or not, I will still apologize sincerely. I promise I’ll listen to you and let you win if we’re talking later."
Arielle stared at her husband’s black mask. She could see his red irises behind the mask, looking at her with concern. If only she could see her husband’s face and expression, perhaps she would be overjoyed.
Arielle couldn’t hold it anymore. She turned her face and burst into laughter.
PFFT!
"Ahahahaha! You’re so cute. I’m sorry... I can’t pretend to be mad any longer than this. You’re too adorable, Ronan..." Arielle said in between her laughs.
She rested her forehead against her husband’s chest and laughed contentedly. Ronan, who was initially confused by his wife’s quick change in mood, then smiled gently and pulled her body into a tight hug. It made Arielle have difficulty breathing because her hands were squeezed between their bodies.
"You know, I really love you. I wish I could sleep with you last night, but I spent my time camping under the snow instead."
Arielle let go of their embrace and then tiptoed to kiss her husband’s cheek through his mask. Then, she cleared her throat to erase her embarrassment.
Ronan could see that his wife looked embarrassed now. With her right foot moving backwards, cutely kicking the floor with the toe of her shoe, and both hands placed behind her back, that was too adorable. Besides, what made Ronan even more excited was when Arielle shyly glanced at him, and when their eyes happened to meet, the girl quickly turned her blushing face away.
"What is it?" asked Ronan with a playful smile on his face. He slightly bent his body to one level with Arielle and looked the girl straight in the eyes without her being able to avoid it again.
"Grandma Bertha said ... that... we have a separate room tonight, but ... if you are cold ... you can visit my room before going to sleep," said Arielle in a soft tone, making Ronan arch his eyebrows.
"What do you mean, Arielle? I don’t understand..." replied Ronan who had forgotten that he had promised not to tease his wife again.
"I know you understand, Ronan. Stop teasing me. I’m going to the library right now!" Arielle replied with a thin of annoyance. She immediately left Ronan who was laughing freely in his place.
The man followed Arielle into the open hallway while still laughing. He looked up to see the violet laces hanging down gracefully.
"Arielle... isn’t this... the hallway William and Lazarus told you about?" Ronan asked while looking left and right.
Everything around him was exactly as William and Lazarus had described. Violet laces adorned along the hallway ceiling, while marble pillars with golden streaks circled by dry, leafless vines.
Ronan held Arielle’s hand to stop as they arrived at a red door of a room with the carvings of two swans facing each other like they were kissing.
"Ronan... don’t open it. It is Princess Bertha’s secret room. I’m afraid we’ll only offend her if we-"
Arielle and Ronan backed away when the door was opened from the inside. They were surprised to see a male servant carrying cleaning tools. One of the dirty clothes underneath was stained with a red color that looked like blood.
The cleaning servant looked surprised and bowed, hanging his head really low in fear. He wanted to lock the door, but his hands and feet were too shaken to do so.
"You-Your Majesty."
"Give me the key. Now!" Ronan ordered sternly.
Arielle held Ronan before the servant gave the key. Even though she was also curious about the torture chamber that traumatized William and Lazarus, they shouldn’t enter without the owner of the room’s permission. However, Ronan already walked in without caring about the male servant who had just given him the key and seemed to be trembling in fear, as if he had messed up Princess Bertha’s biggest secret.
Arielle looked worriedly at the servant, but Ronan had already entered the room. She had to drag her husband out as fast as possible. Then, she followed in and suddenly stopped in her tracks.
"W-what kind of room is this?" Arielle asked in a stammer upon seeing the room, which was dominated by crimson red. It looked so intimidating and scary.
Arielle followed Ronan who stood by the entrance while looking at the inside of the room. The room was dominated by blood-red colors, so it gave off a very oppressing aura. The black curtains had been drawn open to let in the warm rays of the sun.
In front of them was a bed that was wide enough with the bloody red blanket draped over it along with black pillows resting on the head. Beside the wall was a comfortable couch with the same bloody red. ’Was that the same couch where both William and Lazarus saw an unconscious man?’ Arielle asked inwardly.
On another wall hung various kinds of tools that Arielle had never seen before. One of them was a thing that looked like a whip made of cloth and the other one was made of goose feathers. Was this used for torturing a person by tickling some part of the body? Arielle was quite confused by everything she saw. All of them looked strange.
However, imagining how tormented the people who were going through all of this made her shiver. Arielle could also see a statue of a head tied with a rope made of leather along with a thing that looked like to cover the victim’s mouth. It seemed it was meant for keeping their mouths shut.
Keeping them shut when they were being tortured! My goodness!
Arielle involuntarily shed tears as she imagined them going through so much pain... 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Pfft...
Then, Arielle turned when she heard her husband bursting into laughter in a place like this.
Ronan turned his head. He noticed the tears streaming down his wife’s cheeks and looked at it with a confused expression. He unknowingly laughed in relief. Even his laughter was much louder than when he teased Arielle before.
"What’s so funny?" Arielle asked confusedly. She rubbed her tears from her cheeks.
Ronan couldn’t stop his laughter. He even lost his balance and now he laughed on floor. Slamming the red carpet whit his own hand because this is just too funny and he couldn’t keep his cool demeanour.
