Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 77: Trapped In The Forest
"Good grief, Mrs. Arthur! Sebastian, bring her in immediately!" Arielle ordered frantically.
That figure was Mrs. Arthur, the woman who accompanied her to harvest frostberry, and the wife of the man who stood with her in line at the palace.
Sebastian, who was following hastily and a guard, picked up Mrs. Arthur and was rushed into the manor. Arielle crouched for a while to bring the fox that was tailing her to come in. Sebastian ordered the servants to provide warm clothes.
Not too long after, Arielle and Mrs. Arthur now rested in Arielle’s room according to the girl’s wishes. The princess made the request so that Mrs. Arthur could lie down and be given a warm blanket.
Tania rushed to put a warm blanket on Arielle’s body and led the girl to sit by the fireplace.
"Where’s Namina?" Tania asked as she looked for the priest’s apprentice who was with them.
"I saw him leave with His Majesty the King this morning," said one of the servants.
"Then prepare warm water to warm the Princess and Mrs. Arthur," ordered Tania, and several maids there immediately complied.
Meanwhile, Sebastian checked Mrs. Arthur’s pulse and regretfully reported to Arielle that the woman’s pulse was quite weak.
One of the maids then brought a large basin of warm water, and Tania asked Arielle to dip her feet in there. The woman also held out a glass of warm tea to warm the princess’s body.
"Thank you," Arielle replied.
Arielle, who had started to feel warm, approached the unconscious Mrs. Arthur. The woman looked very pale. Behind her, Sebastian stepped aside and left the room. The girl touched the woman’s forehead to check her temperature. She frowned when she felt her body was very cold.
"Tania, bring me my blanket from earlier," asked Arielle.
The girl put the extra blanket on Mrs. Arthur’s body. She grabbed Mrs. Arthur’s hand gently. Slowly the woman’s pale skin started to return to a more rosy hue, and it didn’t take long for Mrs. Arthur to slowly blink her eyes.
"Tania, Mrs. Arthur is awake!" cried Arielle, and Tania came closer.
Mrs. Arthur rose from her bed quickly. She looked around frantically.
"Mrs. Arthur, calm down. You are with us now," Arielle said soothingly.
"Princess? Princess... help me... m-my... my children..."
"Calm down... speak slowly."
Tania held out a glass of warm tea, but the woman refused and instead grabbed Arielle as she sobbed.
"Princess... my children are trapped in the forest.... My husband has been looking for them but never came back... Help them, Your Highness...."
Arielle was surprised to hear that and looked at the older woman worriedly. Until now, they have not been found?"
Mrs. Arthur, who was crying hysterically, just shook her head slowly.
Arielle looked at the poor woman and asked. "Since when has your husband been looking for them?"
"Since... since this morning..."
"Gosh! Okay, now calm yourself first. Warm yourself up and leave this to me."
Tania, who had been listening, panicked when Arielle suddenly left her room.
"Your Highness! Where are you going?" asked Tania and rushed after the princess to catch up to Arielle.
"I will ask the remaining guards and knights in the manor to help find Mrs. Arthur’s family!" cried Arielle and rushed down the stairs.
She called Sebastian, who was guarding downstairs. The girl asked for a coat too. Tania’s request not to leave the manor was just a breeze of passing wind for Arielle.
The blizzard outside did not subside. Sebastian and several knights who had gathered also expressed their opinion to ask Arielle to stay in the manor. However, Arielle was very stubborn this time. She was more worried about the lives of the children who had been caught in a snowstorm for hours.
"I promise I won’t be a bother!" cried Arielle. She felt frustrated because the longer they waited, the longer the little ones got cold!
Sebastian understood the frustration and asked one of the knights to search with the princess. The fox that Arielle saved yesterday also left the manor with her. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Tania looked at Arielle’s departure nervously. She bit her index finger feeling worried about the condition of the princess. She only hoped that His Majesty the King would return soon to bring the girl home.
Arielle struggled to break through the wind and snow. The conditions got better when they started to enter the forest because the trees shielded them from the raging storm.
Arielle divided the guards and knights to scatter into groups of two each. Each group carried a torch as well as an oil lamp to help them see the thick white road.
Arielle took the uphill route. The knight who was with Arielle walked ahead to clear a path of snow for the princess. The little fox also followed fast behind Arielle, although sometimes it still limped.
"Kyaa! Dad!!!"
Somebody shouted and the knight raised both of his arms quickly to block Arielle from advancing and rushing after the voice.
"Did you hear it?" Arielle asked the knight.
"It came from the top of the hill," replied the knight.
"Come on! We have to hurry!"
The knight pulled out his sword to cut the branches of the Frostberry trees that were no longer fruitful. Arielle followed the steps the knight in front of her took rather hastily. When the man lowered his head, Arielle would also look down.
The knight then stretched out his hand so the princess could hold it because the road in front of them was quite steep. Arielle accepted the outstretched hand to let her follow through the path.
"Princess, be careful. This route is quite steep and slippery."
"Thank you," Arielle replied.
They soon arrived at a clear forest, and the ground was no longer uphill, so Arielle could walk faster. Now there was a much louder cry. The two of them moved swiftly and ran through the trees.
Two children were found while they sobbed loudly. They both shook the body of an adult man. When they both looked up, it revealed their red faces with chapped lips which made Arielle’s heart throb with sadness.
