Master Of None-Chapter 2584. Route Mapping
Chapter 2584: 2584. Route Mapping
It was less than a few hours before Walker found himself taking the slower route toward the forest elf territory. This was a good opportunity to also follow the roads and the elves that were removing with Alma were higher trained. While they wouldn’t be able to keep up with him and Alma if they moved at their fastest running speed, they could keep their pace and had the stamina not to fall behind.
Walker moved buffing the others as well, but this was not the only thing he did. He was looking at using the manas around him to test to see if the magic tool would also map the area while he moved through it.
The idea that the mapping orb could get temporary information from the route that Walker and the elves took was interesting. While he would not be able to keep accurate continuous information based on the area, there was benefit in knowing the current state of the route.
The set and carved road that had been made was broken in a few places. Still being repaired. Using the mapping orb would allow for the places like the one he was about to pass through to be judged a little better. It was being rebuilt while a few guards stood over the workers making sure that they were safe.
Being able to see the progress by himself and not send a communication crystal message back was important to Walker. This way he would be showing the progress while also showing the surrounding terrain. How the trees planted were growing along the route and also how many monsters might be nearby.
He was not at all shocked to see that there were a few small monsters out and about patrolling the road. They were looking for opportunities to eat, that was just nature. While his presence scared them away, Walker knew that they would have been sensed by the mapping orb he was providing with mana to carefully map his route.
Once he returned to Genesis he could look at the way the monsters appeared. He would be able to explain the differences in size and how dangerous some were. The small avian monsters looking for food might not be dangerous, but the moss hide boar was one monster that would have given anyone worry if they ran in to it. They were territorial and did not like to be challenged. A merchant’s cart would be seen as an opponent.
He was also explaining this to Alma. While the representatives had heard his explanation as well and generally knew the goals of the grand map sphere project he’d worked on. Seeing him using the smaller mapping sphere was different though.
While the other elves and Alma could sense that Walker was letting some mana activate the small mapping orb, they didn’t notice much in terms of sensory skills being used.
The elves were sensitive to these things. Many races had instincts that would warn them of skills most scouts or sensory mages had. Not all could be caught or detected though. Hence the endless struggle of scouts and catching them. Wild monsters were the same.
While they couldn’t see the information being sent from the small mapping orb, everyone knew Walker was not using his own mana sensing to achieve what he was learning about their surroundings that they could not see from where they stood.
That meant he was using the small mapping orb to be his eyes instead of his skills. This function was also a little above what Walker expected. It meant that he could have specially trained individuals use these orbs as their equipment to sense entire areas.
While it would need to be tailored to them and their skills, so that it would work the same if not similarly. Not everyone would have the level of high mana sensing skills that Walker did. However, many would have skills or develop skills that allowed them to specifically use the small mapping orbs. It would just take a little time.
He noticed using the orb that he felt the manas less in depth and more as generalizations. This meant that for him, he was not seeing the smaller details of how much mana to the fine details mixed together. It would be harder for him to judge the specifics of boundary areas between elemental planes that were on the opposing side of each bridge.
That was fine though, he didn’t need that information for the guards or others. A general set of information was more than enough to push ahead with safety measures for everyone within an area. Let alone share the mapping knowledge.
"Can you relate to the born and search an area you are in more accurately with your mana senses?" Alma wanted to see if Walker could do even more since he was partially responsible for creating the small mapping orb. "Would you get more information or would the orb send more information because of what you do?"
I should be able to see more since I am also using my own senses. I don’t know if I could make the mapping orb send more information though. I am somewhat familiar with the communication tune formations, but not as much as a rune carver or unique mage focused on that."
It was a good idea though. Alma’s point was a good one to make. If this was also a tool utilized by specific individuals who could work in tandem with their natural skills then more information could be sent back. It just depended on the rune formations and the level of skill someone had.
"I can tell I have a better general feeling while I have my mana senses connected to it. I believe we could refine the small mapper orbs better as we have the time to learn about them as well. For someone else, this would be a great way to learn more about an area, especially a scout and mage. For me, it is more akin to dulling my senses."
Walker proved his point and had the eternal codex take the form of a staff and spread his mana out. He was able to sense more details and even pick up on some small sprouting herbs that the mapping orb could not catch.
He stopped though, his mana senses reached further ahead passed the broken roads and the newly built roads. He could sense the earth mana and even feel the ground shaking slightly.
There wasn’t quite like an earthquake but it was like an aftershock. Slight tremors that proved there was something going on. It was also dense enough earth mana that he sensed it still a decent distance from the edge of the forest.
"That’s definitely stagnant earth mana. It seems like it’s because of the forest though. I assume the forest has been growing a lot of new bushes and young saplings?" Walker understood that there had to be some aspect of nature that would attract this much earth mana.
"Yes, it’s been growing and the treehouse builders have been guiding new branches more and more to catch up with the growth." Alma’s response proved that she had been very in touch with what had been going on lately in the elven forest.
"Then you might be lacking some wind and water mana to balance things. It has been dryer and less rain has fallen. Maybe not enough light mana too. We are talking about the entire forest so I need to make sure nature can handle the addition and expulsion of these manas."
Killing off part of the forest accidentally, young growth or not, was not at all his goal. To ensure things went well, Walker would need the help of a few people he knew were already there.
Some of the echidna nature mages had taken up residence within the elven forest. It reminded them of their island and they were comfortable there. No reason for them to be forced to stay in Genesis or the Sigil continent if they were happy to live here and assist the Elves with their learning of nature and even returning to the high elf bloodline they were relearning.
The alter could manage the manas, but having the elves and echidna both monitoring the ratios that would be ideal for the plants living within the forest was perfect. The entire ecosystem could be protected.
"Those are the escorting arches sent to meet us." Several elves appeared front he forest’s edge to greet them. They didn’t appear happy but that was simply because they knew their forest was at risk. To the forest elves, they forest’s was their very life and soul.
"Glad to be here again. We are ready to help where we need to. Just point us in the right direction." Walker didn’t waste a single second.
