Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 78
Aria pov
I guess due to what happened, I had sleepless nights, and that led to me waking up very early in the morning.
I woke Mary up so she would be able to prepare early and return home to change into her uniform. She had breakfast and took a shower at my house but left to change into her uniform at home. I told her goodbye before preparing to also go to school.
Jaxon was still asleep, so I had to wake him up. He felt so reluctant that he had a glare on his face when I tapped him to wake up, but I didn’t care. I prepared his breakfast and then went to take a shower. When I returned, he had already been ready for school and was all having his breakfast and hurrying. He stared at me still as I just had a shower.
"Why are you not ready yet? You woke me up without being ready. "Jaxon said to me with a cold tone.
" I did not know it; it would take you 5 seconds to prepare. I thought I would take some time," I said to him, but he shrugged.
"If you are five more minutes late, I am going to leave you and go to school. After all, it is not a must we go together," he said, and I couldn’t help but hate the new tone he was using for me. They did not sound like this the other day.
I decided I was not going to be soft-hearted to him and instead would reply to him just as harshly as he replied to me; "so, what?" I asked at first.
"I woke you up and told you to get ready; That was so you could be ready by the same time. I did not expect you to be so quick and be hurrying like they were chasing you!!" I yelled at him in annoyance.
He stared at me in shock.
"Are you just saying that back at me?" he said to me but I didn’t care and just rolled my eyes before walking away.
I could feel his footsteps getting closer and closer until he grasped me and turned me around.
"You always find a way to annoy me sometimes. I wish we were not related then. I could treat you just as much as you deserve." he said, and I couldn’t help but be even more confused. I stared deep into his eyes, wanting to find where exactly the fault of this Jaxon I was talking to was coming from, but he looked away and let go of me harshly, making me almost stumble to the ground.
"You do not deserve to waste my time", he said and walked away, and not just to his bag but actually walked out of the building.
I couldn’t help but gasp. Did he just leave me to come to school alone, even with how at risk my life was?
Even though I felt so bitter and angry with his actions this morning, I decided to wave it off and just act neutral. I went back to my room, prepared myself, and left the house, taking the key with me.
I did not bother hiding it anywhere, so he would have to find me if he wanted to get back into this house. I took a taxi not too far from the building that took me directly to the school, but as I got closer and closer to the building,
I became even more scared of what was with me in that building. I could see both familiar faces and unfamiliar faces rushing into the gate as they were getting late. I also told the taxi man to be fast as he dropped me in front of the gate.
I covered my hair with my school hat as I felt so grateful that our school uniform came with an exquisite hat to make us look very unique. This was a way for me to cover up till my hair grew back.
I hesitated as I stood in front of the building, unsure of what to do next. Suddenly, a hand on my shoulder made me jump with fear. When I turned around, I saw Mary, breathing heavily from running.
Just then, I heard a loud horn behind me and saw Mary’s mom waving at me from her car. I smiled and waved back before she drove off.
I entered the school gates, and the security looked surprised to see me. Mary noticed my nervousness and asked where Jaxon was supposed to be.
I shrugged off the question, saying that he had left before me and was probably still around somewhere. Mary reminded me of something she had said the day before I left the hospital, hinting that it would soon come true.
Despite feeling scared and uncertain about the situation, I decided to approach it with a positive attitude after hearing her words. As we walked towards the school assembly ground, we noticed a large group of students running in the same direction.
Mary checked her phone for the time, but we realized it was not yet time for the assembly. I wondered what could have caused such a commotion, as this typically only occurred when something exciting or unfortunate happened.
The assembly ground was where students gathered to witness any significant event, whether good or bad, especially when teachers were not present.
Mary noticed my hesitation to join the crowd, as I did not want to attract attention or be a topic of discussion. However, she encouraged me to accompany her, and we began to make our way through the crowd. As we got closer, I heard people loudly mentioning Jaxon’s name, which made me anxious and curious about what they had seen or wanted to say.
At first, I thought it was something good that had happened, but as we took each step closer and closer to the crowd and made our way to the front, I was shocked to the very tip of my tongue, unable to say a word. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Jaxon was standing there with a wealthy-looking lady. She had her hands hooked to his as they stood there with a white smile.
Jaxon’s face was neutral, but when he saw me, he had a frown on his face and whispered some words to the girl as I turned to Mary, and Mary nodded to me, telling me that was the lady.
