Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man-Chapter 84 - 42: Hooliganism Is a Serious Crime
"Sweet thing." Xu Chunwang reached out, trying to caress her fair, delicate cheek.
Qin Mei raised a hand, deftly blocking Xu Chunwang’s hand as it reached for her face. She tapped his chin lightly with her fingernails. A jolt went through Xu Chunwang, and the blood in his veins began to boil.
"Little vixen." Xu Chunwang’s eyes darted around anxiously, sizing up the rooms and wondering which one he could carry her into.
While Xu Chunwang was distracted, Qin Mei grabbed his chin and, with lightning speed, dislocated it.
"AHH... UGH... UGH..." Xu Chunwang only had time for a single, wretched scream before his voice gave out, leaving him to make only muffled, whimpering noises.
Xu Chunwang lunged for her, but Qin Mei quickly retreated to Jie Jingchen’s side. She pulled a handkerchief from Jie Jingchen’s pocket and wiped the hand that had just touched Xu Chunwang’s chin, her eyes full of disgust.
"If your mouth can’t speak like a human, then don’t speak at all." Qin Mei’s gaze was sharp, her tone flat.
Liu Guihua and Xu Chunyan were dumbstruck. Xu Chunwang’s mouth hung open, his jaw dangling, as disgusting drool trickled down from the corner of his lips.
"Chunwang." Liu Guihua stepped forward and grabbed her son, her eyes filled with worry. "Chunwang, what’s wrong?"
"Qin Mei, what did you do to my brother?" Xu Chunyan snapped back to her senses, glaring at Qin Mei with towering rage.
"Not much. I just dislocated his jaw." Feeling the handkerchief was now dirty, Qin Mei didn’t put it back in Jie Jingchen’s pocket, tossing it directly onto the ground instead.
"You... How dare you?" Xu Chunyan was incredulous. The memory of Qin Mei grabbing her hair and slamming her toward the cauldron resurfaced, and her face instantly began to throb with a fiery pain.
"What wouldn’t I dare?" Qin Mei demanded coldly, looking at Xu Chunyan. "You bring your family here to start trouble, you indulge your brother as he verbally harasses me, and you don’t discipline him. Am I not allowed to deal with him myself?"
"You’re the one with no decency! You’re the one who seduced my brother! Qin Mei, you’re just a..." Under Qin Mei’s sharp, threatening gaze, Xu Chunyan immediately fell silent.
"Does your mouth not want to talk anymore either?" Qin Mei raised a hand. "I don’t mind helping you dislocate yours, too."
Terrified that Qin Mei would rush over and dislocate her jaw, Xu Chunyan clutched her own gauze-wrapped chin, her face a mask of horror.
"Mom." Xu Chunyan looked to her mother for help.
Liu Guihua was worried about her son and had no mind to spare for her daughter. Xu Chunwang kept making whimpering noises, though it was impossible to tell what he was trying to say.
Liu Guihua took a deep breath, suppressing her fury. She said to Qin Mei, "Fourth Wife of Jing, Chunyan is your second sister-in-law, and we’re her mother and brother. We’re all family here. Since you’re the one who dislocated my son’s jaw, you can put it back. Go on, fix it for him."
"Your son tried to assault me. The crime of indecent assault is very serious. I’m sure the Public Security Bureau wouldn’t be lenient." Qin Mei lifted her eyes, a devilish little smile playing on her lips.
Indecent assault? Liu Guihua and Xu Chunyan sucked in a sharp breath.
Xu Chunwang didn’t care about some crime of indecent assault. All he wanted right now was for Qin Mei to put his jaw back in place.
"What indecent assault? Qin Mei, don’t you go making baseless accusations." Xu Chunyan paused, then added, "My brother... my brother asked for your opinion. You were willing. It was consensual."
"Consensual? Ptooey!" Qin Mei scoffed. "Take a look at Jie Jingchen, and then take a look at your brother. Is there something wrong with my eyes? Be consensual with your brother? Who are you trying to disgust? If you’re so capable and not picky, you go find someone worse than your own husband and give it a try."
Xu Chunyan was speechless. Her brother’s looks really couldn’t compare to Jing Si’s. The Jie Family had good genes, especially the children born to Qiao Yanqiu. Even Teacher Lin had been infatuated with Jing Si, captivated by his face.
Liu Guihua looked at Qin Mei and reminded her, "Fourth Wife of Jing, we’re all family. Don’t make things too ugly."
"You already made things ugly by showing up at our door." Qin Mei snorted, pointing at Xu Chunyan as she addressed Liu Guihua. "Your daughter slashed Jie Jingchen. We haven’t even gone to your house to demand an explanation, yet you have the nerve to come to us. Forget a humble apology, you actually came here to call *us* to account. Where do you get the nerve? Huh?"
"Slashed him?" Liu Guihua seized on the word, looking at Xu Chunyan. Xu Chunyan hadn’t mentioned that part.
Today, her daughter had come home. Seeing the gauze wrapped around her daughter’s face, she had instantly flown into a rage. When she heard her daughter say that the Fourth Wife of Jing was responsible, her anger boiled over. She had called her son, dragged her daughter along, and stormed over to the Jie Family to settle the score.
With just cause, she was going to take the opportunity to extort a hefty sum from Qiao Yanqiu.
"Mom." Xu Chunyan didn’t know how to explain. She couldn’t deny it; slashing Jie Jingchen was a fact.
"You really slashed Jing Si?" Liu Guihua asked in a low voice. When Xu Chunyan nodded, Liu Guihua glanced at Jie Jingchen. His complexion wasn’t good. She cleared her throat and said, "Jing Si was already injured to begin with. What’s one more cut from my daughter?"
Hearing Liu Guihua’s casual, dismissive words, Qin Mei was so angry her teeth itched. "Since a filthy mouth like your son’s can’t say anything decent, let’s just not put his jaw back. Let him stay that way."
"HMMHMMHMM." Xu Chunwang whimpered in protest.
"Fourth Wife of Jing, I am Jing Er’s mother-in-law. When I come to the Jie Family, even your parents-in-law have to receive me politely," Liu Guihua said.
"Don’t you worry, my mother-in-law won’t be receiving you politely anymore." Qin Mei rolled her eyes. Xu Chunyan had slashed Jie Jingchen, and now she’d brought her mother and brother to their door to cause trouble. ’Would Qiao Yanqiu still treat them with courtesy?’
"I’m an elder. You have to listen to your elders. I am now ordering you to fix my son’s jaw," Liu Guihua said in a commanding tone.
"Did you give birth to me? Did you raise me? You’re not the one who brought me into this world, nor did you provide for me. An elder? And I should obey your orders? Where do you get the nerve?" Qin Mei crossed her arms. She wouldn’t be fixing that jaw unless they paid for it dearly.
Seeing her mother getting so worked up by Qin Mei’s retorts that she was practically fuming, Xu Chunyan couldn’t help but speak up. "Qin Mei, do you have any morals? I’m your second sister-in-law, and she’s my mother. That makes her an elder."
She knew from deep experience just how sharp Qin Mei’s tongue could be.
"Nope." Qin Mei shot Xu Chunyan a cold glance, her tone infuriatingly unapologetic. "I have no morals, so you can’t guilt-trip me with them."
"You... Mom, let’s go. We’ll take Chunwang to the hospital and make Qiao Yanqiu figure something out," Xu Chunyan said to Liu Guihua, looking at Qin Mei with defiance.
"But..." Liu Guihua was hesitant.
"Go on, go on." Qin Mei waved her hand, a cunning smile on her face. "The way I dislocated his jaw is... unique. I can guarantee you, no one can put it back except me."
’Using my mother-in-law to pressure me? In their dreams!’
"I don’t believe you," Xu Chunyan hissed through clenched teeth.
Qin Mei flicked her fingernails, looked up, and said to Jie Jingchen, "I’m hungry. Let’s go see if Jing Qi is awake and take her out to eat."
"Okay." Jie Jingchen’s expression softened. He was always the one stepping up to protect others. Being protected by Qin Mei felt... strange and wonderful.
"Fourth Brother, Fourth Sister-in-law, I’ve been awake for ages." Jie Jingshan, sitting in her wheelchair, waved at them with a wide grin. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Liu Guihua froze, staring at Jie Jingshan in astonishment. ’Is this still that same listless, unlucky girl?’
Jie Jingchen took Qin Mei’s hand, first locking the door to their room, then locking Jing Qi’s door as well, before wheeling Jing Qi outside.
"HMMHMMHMM." Seeing that they were really leaving, Xu Chunwang grew frantic, grabbing Liu Guihua’s arm and shaking it.
"You can’t leave." Liu Guihua ran to the courtyard gate and plopped herself down on the threshold, blocking their way.
"Move." Jie Jingchen’s eyes turned ice-cold, a threatening warning in their depths.
"I won’t. If you want to leave, you’ll fix my son’s jaw first." Liu Guihua was a large woman. Sitting sideways on the threshold with her heavy arms spread wide, she blocked almost the entire gate.
Jie Jingchen lifted his foot, ready to kick Liu Guihua out of the way, but Qin Mei stopped him. "Jie Jingchen."
’His back injury hasn’t healed. Liu Guihua is a large woman. Whether or not a kick from Jie Jingchen would actually send her flying is secondary; aggravating his injury isn’t worth the risk.’
