Chapter 319: Chapter 319. Constraining a Spirit Stage Opponent

The water globe Qiang Dan used was the same arcane art used by Dao Se when Qiang Dan fought him. Gao Lan had the book containing the arcane art. After she joined the Demon Gang, she presented the book to Amon. Amon then gave it to Qiang Dan.

The water globe had a unique ability, which allowed the user to reshape the water discharged from the globe. The higher the user’s mastery, the more flexible the water could be reshaped.

Qiang Dan’s mastery was not that high yet. Partly because he learned the art not that long ago, the other part was because he lacked talent. However, under Amon’s counsel, Qiang Dan practiced merging the water globe with his river path, making his slash more powerful.

When he slashed his glaive, it was like a massive wave was conjured. The wave smashed into Wei Suangsou, who advanced again while activating the translucent metallic shell. Despite the seemingly powerful force from the wave, the water failed to break the shell protecting Wei Suangsou.

Wei Suangsou’s iron palm slapped Qiang Dan’s glaive. His palm cut through the water surrounding the glaive like it was nothing. The impact threw Qiang Dan’s arm to the side. Qiang Dan felt like his arm was about to tear off.

This maneuver caused Qiang Dan to become wide open. Wei Suangsou was about to land a killing blow when a metallic fan came swooping. He had to move his head away to avoid getting sliced. At the same time, a flashing light struck his attacking hand. These two assaults halted his attack and saved Qiang Dan’s life.

Wei Suangsou turned to the attacker and saw blurry images of countless kicks.

"Hmph!" Wei Suangsou harrumphed. The metallic shell reappeared. Lu Fei’s lightning-fast kicks slammed into the shell without being able to break through.

Wei Suangsou shoved his iron palm forward. Lu Fei received the palm using his kick. The result was getting his body flung back uncontrollably.

Wei Suangsou was about to move again after knocking back Amon’s two protectors, but several flying knives came for his head. His hands turned into a blur as they slapped the knives away. The knives couldn’t harm him, but they halted his advance.

Amon moved further away during that opportunity. He had read the opponent’s art. Wei Suangsou’s defensive shell might be unbreakable to them, but the clan master couldn’t sustain the shell continuously. There was a five-second gap before Wei Suangsou could reconjure it. Amon threw his knives during this gap.

"Don’t think you can flee...!!" Wei Suangsou slapped his two palms together. A strong aura enveloped his body. He then shot forward. His body elongated as he advanced. He became as thin as paper and turned into a giant metal blade.

Amon again used the Lingering Shade Stride and managed to dodge by a hairbreadth. The metal blade cut through everything and everyone behind Amon. It then changed direction sharply. It went up and hit the ceiling before shooting back down at Amon.

Qiang Dan came to Amon’s aid. His glaive made a twirling motion and created a wall with the water globe reinforcing it. However, the water wall shattered upon impact. Despite losing the clash, Qiang Dan’s action slowed the giant blade’s advance.

"Qiang dan, water!" Amon exclaimed. Two long vines shot out of his hands. These vines wrapped around the slowed giant blade, attempting to bind it.

Under normal conditions, the vines would have been cut upon impact. Not only because of Wei Suangsou’s overwhelming strength but also because wood was weak against metal. However, a layer of water enveloped Amon’s vine. Qiang Dan used elemental support to reinforce Amon’s vines. This allowed the vines to resist getting cut instantly by the blade.

The vines still split, but it managed to halt the blade for a breath. During that short instant, Lu Fei came kicking using First Light at Dawn. His kick struck the side of the blade. Wei Suangsou was unharmed due to his high cultivation, but his art was dispelled. He turned back into a human.

His iron palm was about to counter hit Lu Fei. But before it hit, a blinding flash assailed his eyes.

"Gahh...!!!" Wei Suangsou had to shut his eyes.

The blinding flash was Lu Fei’s new arcane art. It not only blinded his opponent but also momentarily dulled the sensing ability possessed by Martial Realm cultivators.

Because of this, Wei Suangsou lost all sensations of his surroundings. He didn’t panic. He conjured his metallic shell. Nothing could hurt him when this shell was active. He quickly regained his senses and sight before his shell expired. As he did, he saw himself surrounded by a net.

The net was too close already. When his metallic shell expired, the net tightened around his body. He saw then that the net was made of interconnected engraved rope. The engraving made the rope sturdier than normal. If it was only one rope, he could break it easily. But with the ropes tied around each other, forming a net, it was harder to break them.

He felt the net tightened even more. Ten Demon Gang members pulled the net from multiple directions, which applied pressure and made it difficult for Wei Suangsou to move.

Amon, Qiang Dan, Lu Fei, and several other Demon Gang members lunged forward. They attempted to land their attacks when Wei Suangsou was constrained.

In the basement, Tuang Yin and Wu Di were navigating the maze. There were multiple intersections. They left a sign every time they turned so they knew the way back or if they had circled back to the same intersection.

"Fucking retard! Whoever built this basement requires a serious ass-whooping!" Tuang Yin exclaimed.

"You know, your foul mouth doesn’t suit your face," Wu Di remarked.

Tuang Yin stopped and gave Wu Di a teasing smile, "Aw, are you saying I’m pretty?"

"You really need to learn to differentiate between compliment and criticism," Wu Di said.

"All right, stop joking around. We need to keep quiet. Otherwise, the enemy will notice we are here."

Wu Di was tempted to point out it was she who made a loud voice when she cursed earlier but decided not to bother.

"Stop," Tuang Yin suddenly uttered.

"What? I didn’t make a sound," Wu Di protested.

"Not that. Listen!"

Wu Di focused on his hearing and finally heard what Tuang Yin meant. There were voices. It was faint but not too far.

The two silently agreed to follow the voice. They navigated the maze by listening to the voice. They finally came upon an opening that led to a large hallway. They peeked into this hallway and saw its sides were lined with prison cells covered by bars. They knew then they had come to the right place.

The prison cells were empty, but they could only see the nearest ones. The hallways stretched further into darkness. The lights were dim, so they couldn’t see much. They still heard the voice. It came from deep within the hallway.

They looked at one another and nodded. Tuang Yin took out three talismans and wrote on them. The talismans were message talismans. The other three teams should receive their message by now. Those teams would double back to the entrance and enter the door she and Wu Di took. They would then follow the signals to this place.

A scream was heard from deep inside the hallway. Now that they were closer, they could better identify the voice. It was a scream caused by pain. It was also a woman’s voice.

Wu Di stepped into the hallway.

"Wait, we should wait for the others," Tuang Yin said.

"Do you not hear that? We can’t wait," Wu Di said. "Something horrible is going on there. Someone might lose their lives if we wait."

Tuang Yin didn’t budge. She preferred to wait. They were in the enemy’s territory. They didn’t know how many or how powerful the enemies were inside there. The risk was uncertain. It was better to go at full strength.

"That voice could be from Lin Mo’s mother," Wu Di said.

This finally persuaded Tuang Yin to go. She nodded and stepped into the hallway. The two walked forward slowly and tried to make as little sound as possible.

As they went deeper into the hallway, they saw shadows from inside the prison cells. They approached the cells and saw that those cells were occupied. The prisoners inside the cell shrunk away from seeing them. They saw that the prisoners were in terrible condition. They were naked, and their bodies were full of wounds. The worst thing was their eyes. Their eyes didn’t seem like human eyes but instead looked like the eyes of frightened beasts.

Wu Di was about to break the cell door to save the prisoners, but Tuang Yin stopped him.

"The enemy will know. Not yet," Tuang Yin whispered.

The prisoners inside could be Lin Clan members, but their priority was Amon’s mother. Wu Di reluctantly agreed. He and Tuang Yin proceeded further into the hallway.
