Chapter 8: Chapter 08

When Kian returned with Hana and Drago, Luan opened his eyes and stood up.

"I've returned, my lord." Kian said, positioning himself behind Luan.

"He really did accept you as master; good job, Luan. Kian is a very capable butler and fighter; make sure you treasure him." Drago remarked, then turned toward the creature that was floating above Luan's head.

Hana nodded, "So is that the creature Kian was talking about? That appeared when your sigil activated?" Hana asked, pointing at the pear-shaped creature hovering above Luan's head.

"Yes, Mother, do you have any idea what it might be or why it just appeared after activating the sigil?" Luan inquired, pointing at it.

Then when Luan's finger got near it, the creature made a laughing noise.

Startled Luan paused, blinking, his eyebrow quirking as he tried to make sense of the creature's strange noise.

Hana stared at the little creature, trying to remember what it looked like, then she clapped her hands as she remembered a similar creature she had seen somewhere long ago.

"I think it's some kind of spirit, although I've never seen a spirit like that one. Your sigil was the Sigil of the Spirit's Pact, right?"

Luan nodded. "Yes, I just activated it, and the knowledge about the sigil flooded my mind, but instead of visions of previous sigil holders like with my other sigil, this thing appeared," he stated, furrowing his brows and placing his hand on his chin.

"That means this is the first time this sigil has appeared; it is rare but not unprecedented," she said.

"And let's call it spirit for now because your sigil likely is related to spirits. Because of the name of the sigil, I would name it and raise it with much care; it might become a strong spirit or even possibly evolve into a spirit king."

Luan nodded along, confirming Hana's guess about what his sigil's abilities were. 'Spirit king, interesting, so there are different evolutions for spirits.'

"Thank you, Mother, so I'll just name it and keep studying as I explore my sigil's abilities, right?"

"That's right, this might be a one of a kind spirit so make sure you take care of it. And hurry up with the servant selections. I know it's been only two days, but you remember the tradition, right?" Hana met Luan's gaze, her expression firm.

"Yes, I know I'll try to finish the servant selection by tomorrow evening with Kian's help; that should be possible."

Hana nudged Drago with her elbow once, then twice, until he finally sighed and cleared his throat.

"When you decide what you're going to do, come to me. I'll then hand you the funds we have prepared." He said, turning around and linking arms with Hana.

"You heard him, sweetie; make sure to collect them." She added as they left.

Hana leaning her head on Drago's shoulder, a silly smile on her face.

"Where do you think I should go, Kian?" Luan lazily asked, sitting down and leaning against the tree again.

"Depends, my lord. What are your goals in that test period where you won't be allowed to return to the territory and need to fend for yourself with the funds they hand you?" He replied.

With a dramatic sigh, Luan let his body fall on the grass, his chest rising and falling as he inhaled and exhaled slowly, pondering what he wanted to do.

The small creature then floated above Luan's stomach, making the same noise that sounded like a person laughing. This time Luan wasn't surprised.

Raising an eyebrow, he looked at the creature as he tried to touch it. The creature let him, seemingly enjoying the sensation of Luan's finger.

"I think I'll start with earning extra funds by becoming an adventurer with the eventual goal of starting a business. No way in hell am I going to be broke; I want to live luxuriously," he mumbled, still petting the little creature.

Then an idea formed in his mind: 'It's the medieval time; if I use my knowledge properly, couldn't I start a successful business? I'll need to be careful not to be duped or scammed, but it might be worth a shot, and I have Kian, who is experienced; he can probably help with that.'

A grin spreading across his face. "Let's do that! Isn't that a great idea?" turning his head toward Kian.

Kian looked surprised at Luan's answer, staring at the little creature that Luan was petting.

"So first you want to earn extra funds by adventuring and then start a business? But where would you start that business? You can't start it in the Meskevela territory. And what kind of business would you start?"

"Well, of course that would be the Xandrian Freeholds, a country created by merchants for merchants. And as for what kind, no idea yet." Luan declared proudly.

'I'll have to learn more about the world to see where a market gap is to earn me some big bucks,' he mused.

"But now first I need to come up with a name for this little pear. Why don't I just call him little pear?" he stated.

But Kian shot that down immediately. "No, he looks like that right now, but if what the madam said is true and it is a spirit, then he won't look like that for too long. Please choose a proper name, my lord." Kian pleaded, trying to save the creature's dignity.

"That's a good point; let's think this over." As he lay there petting it, he thought hard and deep about all kinds of different names for the creature.

"I have no idea; do you have any suggestions, Kian?" Turning his head slowly, he looked at Kian, hoping he would have a good idea.

"Why don't you go for something simple like Ravi, Zara, Nira, or Vira? Those are just a couple of ideas." Kian replied.

"Ah, I like Vira; let's go with that." Turning his head toward the little creature. "Your name is Vira from now on. Glad to have you, Vira. I hope you grow strong fast so you can help me conquer this world," he said.

"World domination?" Kian repeated reflexively.

"That was a joke, of course; don't worry, Kian. I just want to live a lavish life; I don't think I'm cut out for world domination.
