True Alpha's Chosen Mate-Chapter 279: Final Act I: Darkest Hour III
"Sally! Stop!!"
Teresa’s voice could be heard echoing, howling in desperation, so both her sister stop fighting, but to no avail. Priscilla wouldn’t stop attacking Sally and even targeted some of them to throw off Sally. The latter had no choice but to return it with the same level of viciousness.
"Please!" her voice cracked, feeling her throat scratch.
"What the hell are you still doing here?" roared Sally while wrestling with Priscilla on the ground. "I said, go! Can’t you understand that?!"
"But..." Teresa held her hand closed to her chest while tears swam in her eyes.
"Your Highness, we must flee!" A voice from her side caressed her ears, but Teresa’s focus was on her two sisters fighting. Sally had been telling them to flee, so most of them did, but Teresa adamantly stayed.
She would’ve, but she knew... Sally was telling them to flee so no one would witness what she would do to their youngest sibling.
One thing was for sure: it was either Sally or Priscilla. She couldn’t allow that. Although Teresa was also aware that her stubbornness wasn’t helping. But at the very least, they weren’t killing each other just yet — Sally wasn’t taking her sister’s life yet.
"Sally! Let’s figure it out first!" she yelled after mustering her courage and forcing her voice out. "You don’t have to resort to --"
As Teresa took one step forward, she flinched at the thundering roar from Priscilla, baring her teeth at Sally. The latter managed to dodge, but it still grazed her arm.
Teresa’s keen eyes fell on Sally’s arm and saw it wasn’t just a simple graze; it was deep. The latter kicked the wolf’s jaw, causing it to roll back, before glaring at Teresa.
"Teresa!!" Sally’s loud and angry voice shook, eyes bloodshot. Her hand balled into a fist, panting for air, her shoulders going up and down, and chest in and out.
"You... go now! It’s useless! Even if you cry a river, it’s too late! Priscilla had gone feral and was simply in pain! You are not helping!"
Teresa’s breath hitched, biting her lower lip until it bled. She knew that, of course. She was aware that she wasn’t helping Sally and was actually making things hard for her. But as mentioned, leaving right now also guaranteed Priscilla’s death.
At the same time, staying longer could cost Sally’s. Having only these as options, Teresa’s face crumpled up as tears flooded her face. How could she make another hard decision?
How could she leave her sibling behind once again? She already made a choice about Tomas. She thought that was the last. It should’ve been the last.
"Go!!!" she was once again snapped out of her thoughts when Sally growled even louder. "Teresa! Listen to me...! For once!"
"Sally..." her shaking voice was muffled as she could barely see through the water overflowing in her eyes, watching the two of them brawl once again. "Priscilla..."
"Your Highness, please...!"
Teresa ignored the warrior who remained by her side while staring at Sally and Priscilla. She didn’t want to choose between them, but she had to. It was a decision she would never forget and a decision she knew she would want to atone for the rest of her life.
She huffed and forced herself to look away, muffling her sniffle as she faced the warrior. "Let’s go," came out a shaking voice whilst wiping her tears with her arm.
The warrior, seeing her, try her best, leaving her heart behind with her siblings. The knight sported a bitter expression. However, they couldn’t keep hesitating.
With that being said, they turned and sprinted in the direction where others fled to. It was Garrett’s order when he fled the scene with the emperor. He ordered everyone to flee the imperial palace all at once without giving out explanation.
Teresa tried her best to keep her eyes ahead, but when she heard a painful wailing of a wolf, her heart sank as her steps slowly came to a halt. She told herself not to look back, but before she knew it, she already did.
Oh, how she wished she listened to her instinct. Because what welcomed her eyes was Sally sacrificing her arm that was in between Priscilla’s wolf teeth, while the other was plunged inside the wolf’s chest.
"No..." her mind instantly went blank, unaware that the knight held her arm to drag her away. "Sally... Priscilla..."
The bloody sight of her two sisters brought back the old days when they shared stories, laughing carelessly without a care in the world, and just being sisters. She couldn’t help but return to those days she would look for Priscilla, only to find her hiding in the corner while reading a book.
Those moments with Sally, where the latter would grumble and throw a tantrum like a little girl. Those days in the imperial palace, where nothing seemed to go wrong. Teresa had always kept those happy times in her heart, but only now did all those wonderful moments truly showed their real value.
They’re priceless.
Nothing in this world could measure those happy times where all of them were still like a big, happy family.
As Teresa was frozen on the spot, the sound of Sally’s hand when she pulled it out of Priscilla’s chest echoed in her ears, along with the noise of her bones breaking because Priscilla clutched her teeth for that one last bite.
THUD!
Still keeping the arm in between her bloody teeth, Priscilla collapsed to her side with a heavy thud. Meanwhile, Sally remained rooted on the ground, holding the enlarged beating heart down. The faint whistle of the wind blew past them, but it left her breathless.
"Priscilla..." Teresa couldn’t help but feel weak, giving in to her shaking knees. It felt as though every beat of her heart was crippling her.
Just then, Silas arrived at the scene with Elizabeth still in his arms. His steps slowly halted while his eyes landed on Priscilla’s vantage point. When he moved it in where his sister was looking, his jaw fell open as his heart sank.
"Priscilla..." his breath hitched as he darted his eyes at the armless Sally and then at the wolf morphing back to human form on the ground. "My sisters..."
