Void Cultivation-Chapter 199- Blood Devouring Fiendish Bird
Grey’s illusory purple sword and the six Sinister Ghosts charged toward each other, colliding violently in mid-air. The impact sent Grey flying backward. The sword managed to dissipate only two of the six ghosts, yet even as they vanished, their forms rapidly began to coalesce once more.
The old man roared, his eyes bloodshot, and charged straight at Grey. His strength at the Foundation Establishment realm had already reached its peak. It was impossible to tell who struck first, but when their fists collided, both were blasted backward by the recoil of their own power.
Grey staggered through the air, blood trickling from the corner of his lips. His already pale face drained of what little color remained, making him look like a ghost himself.
The old man, however, was in far worse condition.
One of his hands had exploded into a spray of blood and flesh, while crimson flowed freely from his eyes, nose, and mouth.
Yet the aura of Foundation Establishment within him continued to climb. At this moment, there was no visible difference between him and a cultivator who had truly stepped into the Foundation Establishment Realm.
Even so, Grey sensed unstable fluctuations rippling through the old man’s body. This state would not last long. It would collapse—soon.
But instead of relaxing, Grey grew even more vigilant.
The man before him had displayed terrifying vitality, along with countless bizarre techniques and forbidden arts.
In the blink of an eye, the old man’s exploded hand began to regenerate, flesh and bone knitting together unnaturally. At the same time, he staggered backward and violently coughed out a small green pearl.
Green fog swirled within the pearl. Inside that fog writhed countless ghost-like figures, their faces twisted with suffering and anguish. Those figures were the source of the fog’s color—no, more than that, they were the fog itself.
When the green pearl appeared, the surrounding air seemed to rot.
The green fog inside it churned violently, and the ghost-like figures within pressed against the surface as though sensing prey. Their mouths stretched open in silent screams, faces contorting as if reliving their deaths again and again. The fog thickened, growing darker, heavier—like coagulated resentment.
Grey’s scalp prickled.
A suction force locked onto him.
It was not targeting his body.
It was reaching for something deeper.
Before Grey could fully react, the pearl shot forward, stopping inches from his face. The green fog inside surged, and Grey felt a sudden hollowing sensation in his chest, as though an invisible hand had plunged into him and begun rummaging around.
His breathing faltered.
A cold, nauseating pull clawed at his throat.
Then—
A faint wisp slipped from his mouth.
The moment it emerged, Grey’s pupils shrank. The wisp trembled violently, as if resisting, before being dragged toward the pearl. As it entered, the ghostly figures inside convulsed in ecstasy, their anguished expressions twisting into something grotesquely satisfied.
Grey’s gaze turned glacial.
He calmly sent an order to his shadow.
The shadow did not respond.
Instead, it quivered faintly beneath him, sluggish and uncooperative—like something pretending not to hear.
Grey let out a cold snort.
His spiritual power surged violently into the shattered purple crystal fragments embedded in his chest. A suppressive purple radiance erupted outward, crashing down onto the shadow like divine punishment.
The shadow screamed.
It was not a sound meant for human ears.
It tore itself free from Grey’s legs and lunged toward the green pearl, moving with feral desperation.
The pearl attempted to absorb it as well.
The moment it made contact, the pearl shuddered violently.
There was no spirit to consume.
Only a jagged shard of Grey’s fragmented soul—twisted, incomplete, and poisoned with something it could not digest.
Panic rippled through the pearl.
It tried to retreat.
Too late.
The shadow smothered it completely, wrapping around it like burial cloth over a corpse. The suction force collapsed instantly, and the faint wisp snapped back into Grey’s body.
With a single smooth motion, Grey sealed both the shadow and the pearl into his storage ring.
The world went quiet for a moment. Grey’s figure turned into a blur that crossed the distance between the two of them. The old man also charged forth. His right hand had already recovered and his body was shining with a golden light.
With a loud boom, the two of them crashed into each other. And the desert sand on the ground was blasted in all directions. Grey punched several times and fist shaped air cannons were sent out.
He then took a deep breath in before opening his hands and clapping. A stream of cold yin energy was sent flying in all directions.
After advancing to the Foundation Establishment Realm, the cold yin energy in his body did not disappear. It would occasionally circulate through his meridians and to his dantian quietly.
Because Grey did not have the second part of the Forbidden Monarch art, he could not continue to cultivate cold yin energy. But that did not stop him from executing the same spells that he used when he was still in the Qi Accumulation realm.
The cold stream of energy was sent in all directions and towards the old man. Instantly, the old man felt his spirit energy starting to freeze, as if it was being influenced by an external force.
His eyes turned red as he forcefully used the power of Foundation Establishment to break open his spirit energy. During that time, the old man had been forced to a stop. Even though he broke out of Grey’s Forbidden Stream in an instant, that instant was more than enough for Grey to appear before the old man and point at his forehead.
Spirit power rapidly gathered at the top ofbhis fingers, and condensed into a small ball of spirit power. The old man’s eyebrows were raised as he tried to retreat. He even bit his tongue and spat out blood. The blood turned into a small red bird that rushed towards the space between his brows.
But Grey did not give him yime to execute his ability. The ball of Spirit energy suddenly expanded and exploded. At the same time that this appeared, the red bird crashed into the space between Grey’s brows.
