We approached the last room and I was just about to rip the door off its hinges when it slid open on its own accord and a person I was not expecting to see here was floating right behind it.

She blinked at me, "Miss Tera?"

I blinked back at her, "Eleanor?"

What the heck is Mara’s cousin doing here?!

Don’t tell me she’s the leader of this gang?

No, no, no... Think about this rationally. She’s a noble, why the heck would she come out here to be a gang leader to begin with?

Both Amber and I were just staring at Eleanor while she stared back at us, both sides just as surprised to see each other.

She looked past me to see the destruction both Amber and I had wrought, taking a moment to stare at the corpses before turning back to me.

"What are you doing here, Miss Tera?"

I gestured at the thugs, "They’re thugs... I’m a Merc... I think you can guess?"

"Someone commissioned for their destruction? I see..."

"So why are you here then?"

"Hmm? Oh, I was looking for some people to handle a business of mine but I suppose now I will have to look elsewhere."

I raised an eyebrow, "What kind of business?"

"Oh? Could you be interested in helping me? I suppose you would definitely be able to do a better job than these pieces of trash anyway. So are you interested?"

Before I could answer, a few more thugs came out from the room behind her, all of them armed to the teeth including one guy stomping in with Power Armour as well.

Right, we weren’t done clearing the rest of the building yet.

Amber wanted to raise her hand but I quickly pulled her back and floated forward to levitate in front of her.

Right now, Eleanor shouldn’t know that Amber was a Psionic since she hadn’t used her abilities in front of her so far. I would think that if she knew Amber was also a Psionic, it would mean we have three Psionics in our group and that’s pretty big.

I have no doubt that this will eventually be found out as well but I would like for this to remain a secret as long as possible.

Besides... I can handle this just fine!

I reached out my hand towards the group of thugs and concentrated, my telekinesis forcing them to smash down into the ground.

They let out a yell of pain but were quickly silenced when I intensified the pressure and their bodies were crushed into the ground.

The thug in the Power Armour was still standing and he tried to level his weapon at me to shoot me.

I lifted up my other hand and flicked my wrist at the Power Armour, slamming an invisible force to send it flying away to smash into a wall.

I then did a grabbing motion at the Power Armour and began crushing it, squeezing it like I was crushing a soda can and the machine crumpled and collapsed into itself, crushing the pilot inside it.

I wasn’t done yet as I took out my halberd and assembled it before using my telekinesis to swing it at the Power Armour, the blade cleaving through the metal and cutting it in half.

Damn, this weapon is really OP... I can see why Yumiko only wanted Franz to make her swords.

My feet touched the ground again and I turned my attention back to Eleanor who had been watching the entire scene unfold without a word.

She took another moment to look at my handiwork before turning to me, "It seems like you are quite experienced in using your powers already.

I decided not to correct her so I just shrugged in response.

She tapped the side of her cheek, "So what do you say? Do you want to help me with my business? I’ll pay you well."

Amber narrowed her eyes at her, "What is the pay?"

She unexpectedly bared her teeth at Amber, "I wasn’t talking to you, mortal. Stay silent when your betters are talking."

Surprisingly, Amber didn’t seem that offended and merely shrugged and took a step back. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

I tried to link my thoughts with Amber to have a telepathic conversation with her.

The moment the link connected, Amber’s thoughts flooded my mind.

’Hmm... I better be careful not to think about anything since she could possibly read my mind. Yep, yep. I should just think about nothing~ Or maybe just think about all the hot sex that Tera and I had last night? Yeah, that’s better~’

Images of me bending Amber over last night flashed through our telepathic link and I quickly cut the connection.

I understood that was Amber’s way of telling me that our telepathic conversation might be intercepted by Eleanor and we should not try to have one in front of her.

Ok, guess this is all me then...

I nodded at her, "What is this business and what is the pay?"

"There is a rival Noble Family of ours that is trying to get exclusive purchasing rights from a company and prevent them from selling any of their Exo-Knights to any other family. Of course, it is in our best interest that they fail in this transaction."

I raised an eyebrow, "And you were planning to make use of this gang to disrupt their business?"

"Naturally. They would attack us directly if we were to interfere directly so it’s times like this where we make use of lowlifes such as these trash for our benefit. That’s the only purpose in life they can serve."

"I’m surprised that you actually came here on your own... I thought you would get a servant or something to do this for you instead."

"What can I say? I am a special one in my family. There aren’t many things that can harm me so I am free to move around on my own."

She paused and looked at me, "I suppose you are one of the rare ones that could potentially harm me if you wanted to but I believe you don’t have any intention to do that, do you?"

"Not unless you give me a reason to. But the fact that you’re asking me to do this for you... Aren’t you basically putting me on the same level as these thugs?"

"Not at all. These pieces of trash should be grateful I even sought them out to do this for me to begin with, so there was no need for payment. If you were to help us in this business, I would be happy to pay you for doing this."

"How much are you paying then?"

"A favour from the family and a personal favour from me. Is that enough?"

I made a face at her, "I would much rather something that I can use."

Her eyebrows furrowed, "I am offering you the favour of a Noble Family and you are turning that down? Do you even realise anyone would scramble to earn our favour and here I am just giving it to you?"

"You mistake me for someone who is just simply ’anyone’. If I were to take up on your offer, getting a favour from you would put me at odds with other Nobles and I’d rather not have to deal with that. I will take Credits over immaterial stuff like favours instead."

She narrowed her eyes at me, "Hmph... Indeed... If you were just anyone else, you would be dead for even daring to speak like that to a Noble. You have some guts, I’ll give you that. Very well... I do have an alternative suggestion if you would hear me out?"

I nodded at her to go ahead.

She gestured towards me, "I believe you currently do not have a pass to enter the Inner Colonies, do you?"

"I’m in the process of getting one and if you were thinking about using that as a form of payment, I will have to reject that. Even if it’s not at the cost of handing Mara over to you."

"I remember that. I have something else to offer in regards to that. There are several places within the Inner Colonies that will only exclusively deal with Nobles. I can grant you a pass that will identify you as an associate of my Family and you will be treated as such. How about that?"

I narrowed my eyes, "You’re basically trying to recruit me to your family this way. What’s different about this as compared to just claiming that I am one of you?"

She huffed, "You will merely be an associate, not a member. You can still be associated with other Nobles and you can leave anytime you want. Is that still not good enough for you? I would think that I am being exceptionally generous now. All you need to do is make sure this little business deal fails and that’s it. Shouldn’t be that hard right?"

I pursed my lips and peeked at Amber.

She seemed to think about it for a moment before nodding her head.

Huh... So that’s a good deal? Fine then.

I guess we’re still going to do some work here after all.
